About this property

A romantic and beautifully renovated cottage complete with cosy wood burning stove and an Aga, New Inn Cottage is ideally situated in a peaceful village surrounded by the magnificent Shropshire Hills.

New Inn Cottage is a charming ‘one-up, one-down’ cottage which has been tastefully renovated to provide cosy and romantic accommodation for two guests. Situated in the magnificent surroundings of the Shropshire Hills, New Inn Cottage is nestled away far from any street lighting or main roads, which is a joy to behold when night falls and the stars litter the sky.

Inside, you are welcomed into a fabulous open-plan living area including the shaker style kitchen complete with four oven Aga with warming plate, Belfast ceramic sink, dishwasher and even a blender and coffee machine. The kitchen spills into the inviting sitting room area with its focal point stone inglenook fireplace housing the wood burning stove and comfy seating strategically placed to draw you, light the fire and relax. Nestled into the corner is a pretty dining area alcove from where you can enjoy the warmth and glow of the fire as you dine. Upstairs, the romantic galleried bedroom suite boasts character and charm with exposed beam work, comfy king-size bed and a contemporary shower room.

Wander into the generous, cottage garden, well stocked with mature shrubs and plants, and garden furniture to enjoy the warmer months.

The village of Cardington is a typical, quintessential English village centred around the 12th century church and adjacent pub. Approximately five miles away is the market town of Church Stretton where a selection of shops and other conveniences are located. Cardington is located within the Shropshire Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Close by are the Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge, both National Trust protected nature reserves, which have excellent walking opportunities, cycle routes and bridle paths with breath-taking views.

Cosy, charming cottage in a beautiful village with lovely inhabitants. Greeted by owner Sue on arrival with the wood burner already lit. The AGA kept the cottage warm while we were out during the day but the fire was a bonus in the evenings. Great place to set off on walks into the Shropshire countryside and close to lovely Ludlow and Shrewsbury. The village pub - The Royal Oak - also great for meals. Busy for Sunday lunch!

There are no downstairs curtains or blinds which leaves one feeling exposed. The Aga is OK if you have one at home and have the required knowledge of how to use it, otherwise cooking is really a non starter especially as there is no Microwave, strange indeed, every kitchen has one, but not here. Also, the Aga is knocking out massive amounts of heat that convects upstairs, nice in winter but it would be too much in summer. The sofa is very uncomfortable unless your natural seating position is bad posture slouching. Just a few faults that could be easily modified and then the cottage would rate at 5 stars!

A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous village. Spotlessly clean. A nice welcome pack, but just missing a couple of essentials (salt, oil). There should be much more information on the fact there are no curtains or blinds downstairs, so a complete lack of privacy. There is also no door on the bathroom, just a curtain, so that should be made obvious in advance before booking.
