About this property

The Olde Cow House, dating from the 16th century, offers a superb mix of olde world charm and modern amenities, and has been beautifully renovated, retaining a wealth of exposed original oak beams, wall timbers, brick and stone walls throughout every room. A very special property, one of four superb Shropshire cottages, in a lovely rural location. Note: This property can be booked with ref 1020, 1021 & 1191 to accommodate 38.

Set amidst the rolling hills of the South Shropshire countryside, the village of Cardington boasts the oldest pub in Shropshire - The Royal Oak - which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Its rural location makes a wonderful base whilst sightseeing and the village provides miles of country paths in all directions through the beautiful Shropshire hills, making this an excellent spot for cyclists and walkers. There is a wide variety of birdlife - including buzzards, woodpeckers and ravens, as well as the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, Severn Valley Steam Railway, Stokesay Castle, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and the Ironbridge Gorge – boasting as many as 10 museums. The attractive market towns of Church Stretton - known as 'Little Switzerland' by the Victorians - and Much Wenlock are both within easy driving distance and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.

It was lovely that children toys were provided in the accommodation and it was only a short walk to see pigs, horses and chickens. The outdoor play area and go karts were great fun and our children loved it. All cooking equipment was available which was very helpful. The beds were clean and comfortable, log fires the wood was provided. The shower in the middle bedroom wasn’t great the shower head needs replacing, which is an easy fix. We would have loved to have used the pool, however when booking we didn’t read that you had to pay extra to use it and that under 4’s aren’t allowed in there. Feel it would have been more appropriate to include the price of the pool in the accommodation price and then allocate a booking form for people to book their 90 minute slots. The book looked amazing and it’s ashame we didn’t get to use it. The pool didn’t affect our stay and we really enjoyed it!
