About this property

Ludlow 3 miles. A delightful barn conversion cottage on a smallholding in the grounds of the owner's home, just outside the village of Caynham, three miles from Ludlow. This superb property is an ideal location for friends or families to enjoy walking, cycling, fishing or birdwatching right on the doorstep. The property benefits from underfloor heating throughout with each room being individually controlled, and it retains many features such as original beams and arrow slit windows. There is a well-equipped kitchen with an American fridge/freezer, together with a dining area and sitting area with reclining sofas and a gas stove, making it the perfect place for relaxing after a day out and about. The two stunning bedrooms both have en-suite facilities and also have the luxury of a TV and DVD in each room. Doors from the sitting room can be swung open in the summer onto a rear paved area where you can dine alfresco or just sit and enjoy the distant views to Mortimer Forest. Medieval Ludlow is a delight to spend time ambling around and is only a few miles from the cottage. Discover its listed buildings, 11th century castle, famous food and cultural festivals, excellent restaurants, pubs and tea rooms. Explore the historic market town of Church Stretton, known as Little Switzerland, with wonderful walking on the surrounding Long Mynd hills, as well as the World Heritage Site at Ironbridge, the Severn Valley Railway, Stokesay Castle, the Acton Scot Historic Working Farm and many National Trust houses and gardens. A charming cottage for a memorable holiday at any time of year. Note: This property is next to Ref. 16683, together they sleep 8.

This historic, picturesque village lies in the heart of the beautiful South Shropshire countryside and is set amidst renowned scenic walking and cycling country. The village's outstanding landmark is Caynham Camp, a huge Bronze Age/Iron Age earthwork which covers a site of eight acres at the summit, from which wonderful views can be enjoyed. Only 3 miles away is Ludlow, whose medieval street pattern remains almost intact, and provides a fascinating backdrop for the town's regular street markets, held in the shadow of the castle. Ludlow is renowned for its shopping, and has several Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as numerous tea-shops, pubs and inns.

Parking was easy and next to the cottage, it was beautifully clean and well furnished, everything we had hoped for and more. It was obvious that everything had been thought through to enth degree to make it a proper home from home, although one thing we all experienced was intermittent WiFi. When we met the owners the following morning, they were very welcoming. The cottage was well situated for visiting Ludlow and had the weather been better, the far reaching view from the lounge would have been incredible.

We could not have chosen better. The owners of the farm, Mr and Mrs Bufton were so welcoming and kind. we had everything we needed and more. The views from the Brye were spactacular, nothing but countryside and the Hills beyond. We could sit in the lounge and watch the wild life, squirrles, pheasents, kytes, buzzards, foxes and all manner of birds, even a Jenny Wren, and much more. The town of Ludlow was just a short drive away and is full of history including the Castle and many timbered buildings dating back to the 14th centuary. The autumn colours down by the river were amazing and there are lots of lovely places to eat. and many trails to walk. WE WILL BE BACK SOON WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY TOO . Thank you so much, just what we needed and more. Home from Home.
