If you’re seeking thrills, drive to Drayton Manor Theme Park for a rollercoasters and rides or visit Tamworth Castle for a more leisurely afternoon. While in the area, be sure to visit the city of Lichfield, home to Beacon Park, a delightful green space nestled in the centre of the city, perfect for a tranquil stroll, and Lichfield Cathedral is a must-see attraction with its stunning gothic architecture and rich history. The picturesque village of Whittington, unspoiled by time or development, sits quietly in the Lune Valley between the Lake District and the stunning Yorkshire Dales. The village has a wonderful church from the 15th century that stands proudly on the site of an ancient motte and bailey castle, as well as traditional stone-built dwellings and a welcoming local pub. It is the starting point for a plethora of walks through picturesque countryside and along the River Lune to quaint towns with breathtaking vistas of the Lakeland Fells and northern Dales. The nearby Hutton Roof Crags Nature Reserve is home to a wide variety of butterfly, bird, and plant life and features one of the most impressive areas of limestone habitat in Britain. Kirkby Lonsdale, a historic market town with beautiful 17th and 18th century architecture and the world-famous Devil's Bridge, is not far away and features numerous unique stores and excellent eateries. Historic Kendal in Cumbria, with its charming cobblestone streets, impressive art gallery, and interesting museum, is only thirteen miles away, and the picturesque towns of Arnside, Sedbergh, and Settle are also easily accessible.
