Snaptrip says

The Power House in Saltburn-by-the-Sea offers a spacious and well-equipped setting for family gatherings and celebrations, with a hot tub, sauna, and games providing entertainment. Its proximity to the beach and local amenities adds to its appeal, despite some concerns over cleanliness and maintenance.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Several reviews mention the need for a deep clean and issues with dust, grime, and dirty floors. However, not all reviews reflect this, indicating inconsistency in cleanliness standards.

The property's location is frequently praised for its proximity to the beach, local eateries, and the Cleveland Way, making it a great base for exploring the area.

Guests find the beds comfortable and appreciate the spaciousness, though some reviews cite issues with mattresses and noise levels. The variety of rooms and ample space contribute positively to comfort.

Facilities like the hot tub, sauna, and games are highlights, but several reviews report maintenance issues with kitchen appliances, showers, and the snooker table, suggesting room for improvement.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owners, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

A wonderful conversion of a former Victorian powerhouse, 800 yards from the sandy beach in the former fishing village of Skinningrove. Restored to a very high standard, this house in Skinningrove includes a magnificent entrance hall with central ash staircase leading to a galleried landing with leaded glass dome. The Power House offers superb, light and airy accommodation, including a sitting room with feature Victorian cast iron fireplace, arched windows and sea views. Large kitchen that provides all the facilities that you will need including a glorious Yorkshire range, a real focal point of this Skinningrove cottage, and one of the dining tables incorporates a slate bed snooker table. There are two sitting rooms, both with TVs, one of which has a double sofa bed and ramped access, which may make this delightful property suitable for accompanied disabled. Six bedrooms include two with four poster beds and two with en-suite bathrooms, offering a touch of luxury as well as great flexibility over the sleeping arrangements. A family sized bedroom that sleeps four has two single beds on a mezzanine floor with a distinctive porthole giving sea views, plus there are three further bathrooms, one of which boasts a beautiful roll-top slipper bath. The historic town of Whitby and the coastal villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay are all easily reached, as is the lovely scenery of the nearby North York Moors National Park, making this a great Skinningrove holiday cottage for exploring this fabulous region, any time of the year.

This former fishing village is on the Cleveland Way, and visitors will find a collection of interesting houses and a good variety of shops and a beautiful sandy beach within its boundaries. As well as being a fishing village, Skinningrove was part of the Ironstone Mining Industry and there is a museum in the area that charts the history of this industry. Saltburn is just six miles away and has retained much of its Victorian charm, including the pier, colourful Italian Gardens and the oldest water balanced cliff tramway in Britain, well worth a visit. Skinningrove is ideally placed as a base to explore the dramatic scenery of the moors and the many coastal towns and villages in the area, making it a great holiday base.

Also, the bed settee isn’t very comfortable at all and the person who slept on it didn’t sleep very well. We had a lovely time here and there was plenty of room for all of us including the dogs!

As a multi generational family gathering, we found the accommodation catered for all members. Table football and pool table a big hit with some, whilst the hot tub was a real bonus for others. Would thoroughly recommend this house for similar parties.

Would definitely recommend. Perfect location for exploring the area. Had a great week.
