Nearby are attractions such as Captain Cook's birthplace, the Zetland Lifeboat Museum and the mining museum, whilst the stunning scenery of the North York Moors is close by. Explore the pretty fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay with their quaint cottages tumbling down cobbled streets towards the sea, visit the market town of Guisborough or the old spa resort of Saltburn, just 2 miles from this Marske cottage. A great base from which to explore this beautiful area.

The busy, coastal town of Marske-by-the-Sea has many shops, pubs and restaurants. One of the main attractions in the town is the excellent long sandy beach and sand dunes. Near to Marske-by-the-Sea is Captain's Cook birthplace, the mining museum and Zetland lifeboat museum. Just three miles away is the old spa town of Saltburn with many attractions such as the Smugglers Heritage Centre, the Cliff Lift and and pier which is the most northerly surviving pier in Britain. The town also has many pubs and restaurants. For walkers, there is the stunning North York Moors National Park. Also worth a visit are the lovely fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay as well as the seaside town of Whitby. Marske-by-the-Sea is a fantastic base with many villages, towns and attractions within the area.
