    About this property

Millward House is a large semi-detached, four-bedroom property sleeping eight in the beautiful village of Longnor in the Peak District. Well-maintained with spacious accommodation, the cottage is perfect for families and friends. There is plenty of character to this holiday let, with a woodburning stove in the sitting area accompanied by cream sofas where you can relax after a day exploring, as well as holding plenty of games to play around the fire in the evenings. Across from this, the dining room seats nine people and comes complete with an arm chair for your comfort. This sweeps over to a neatly designed galley kitchen with white furnishings, as well as the added bonus of a dishwasher and a washing machine. Going up to the next floor, you will arrive at a spacious bathroom with both a shower and bath. All bedrooms have comfortable hotel beds that can be arranged into either single or king-size beds, offering two spacious twin bedrooms that echo a contrasting tone, one in a black and white theme, whilst the other is more vibrant, perfect for children to pick and choose. The king-size double room features exposed beams and a lovely window seat so you can sit and admire the outside. Further up the stairs, a family bedroom holds a king-size double and a single bed. There is also a camping cot, highchair, and stairgate available for your little ones. A bathroom lies off from this, and makes a great place to get ready in the morning. Outside of the cottage, a collection of trees and plants form a natural landscape, and you can observe all of this from the patio area. Longnor is home to a pub and charming wine bar, come restaurant. Beautiful walks and cycle routes can also be found around the area, with local towns of interest including Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne, perfect for a wonder around. Chatsworth House in a short drive away, and presents you with beautiful gardens, making a lovely day out for all the family. This retreat is an adventure not to be missed.

The Peak District village of Longnor is situated in beautiful countryside on the Staffordshire Moorlands/Derbyshire border, with the River Dove to the east and the River Manifold to the west, making an excellent touring centre. The village boasts two pubs, a shop, a Post Office, café tea room, fish and chip shop, great craft centre and a beautiful church.

"Only niggle was the key safe at this property is low down and difficult to use. The key to the front door needs replacing as it was also difficult to use."

"Really pleased we chose this cottage as it was perfect for our cycling weekend with friends, in a lovely location close to places to eat / drink."

"The outside spaces need tidying up and the shower on the top floor needs attention because it can't be adjusted as necessary. Our first impression of the kitchen was disappointing because there is some damage to the unit as you walk in, although this doesn't interfere with the practical use of the kitchen. During our stay we noticed that the gas bottles needed replacing so we phoned the owner, who was grateful that we had checked this, and the next day the gas bottles were replaced. The beds were very comfortable and the bath towels were lovely, but it would have been good to have had hand towels as well. We would add that for what we paid for our week, this house is very good value."

"Our stay was very enjoyable but there were a couple of things which would have made it even better. "Beds were comfortable and lounge cosy, with plenty of games and DVD s. A larger TV would have been better . Loved the log burner. A downstairs toilet would be useful but realise it is an old building. Very central to Matlock, Buxton, Chatsworth House, Ashbourne and Leek. Everyone very friendly and can recommend the fish and chip shop ."
