    About this property

For your escape to the country this traditional farmhouse is perfect, surrounded by fields and with beautiful views over the Peak District.
In what can only be described as a true rural location, Blackclough Farmhouse dates back over 100 years and offers magnificent panoramic views over the Peak District, Derbyshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire countryside. Beautifully furnished to a good standard throughout, Blackclough Farmhouse is linked internally by a large shared boot room to Blackclough Barn, making them perfect for one large group or two completely independent families. Blackclough Farmhouse benefits from a superb wood burner, making it warm, comfortable and full of rustic character.
Located in a Site of Special Scientific Interest which legally protects the surrounding wildlife and geology, and with only the sounds of the flowing river and sheep as neighbours, the location is remote and just perfect for relaxing and re-energising. Ample outdoor pursuits are available locally including walking, mountain biking and climbing. Although remote, England’s highest village, Flash, complete with local shop/café and local pub serving traditional food is just 1½ miles away. The spa town of Buxton is just 5½ miles providing ample amenities and tourist attractions, and a number of other Peak District towns and villages are within easy reach, including Bakewell, (home to the magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall), Hartington and Tideswell, which can all be reached in around ½ an hour. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

"This is a remote stone farmhouse beautifully modernised. It would be ideal for keen walkers. The owners have provided everything you would expect in a luxury cottage. However, it is not on mains water and the noise from the pumped system when you drew any water was irritating. Forewarned about the very steep access to the house, we were still rather taken aback by the gated, narrow, twisting tarmac track which has to be taken very cautiously at night, in a downpour. OK we were a set of 4 OAP's and I'm sure youngsters would have revelled in the adventure! We ate twice at the Knight's table pub in Flash 2miles away. Excellent value and delicious homely food."

"Having stayed at Blackclough last summer in the same week and had a fabulous time, we were unfortunately disappointed with our return stay. The location is absolutely stunning. Remote, amazing walks from the door which made us want to return. However, the cleanliness of the kitchen in particular was poor. No tin opener which was frustrating and no tea towels although we managed to find some in a laundry basket in the boot room (which we did not have access to on our first trip). There was a problem with the water pump which was incredibly noisy and intrusive. Not sure if they had already been aware of the problem before we reported it. A plumber visited midweek but was unable to rectify the problem whilst we were there. So it was not a peaceful stay with noises through the night. The timing of our visit was just bad luck as plumbing issues cannot be predicted. The accommodation is cosy and comfortable, well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the wildlife with sheep peering through your front door and a hare spotted through the bathroom window. A 15 min walk down to Three Shire Head bridge with waterfall and plunge pool - a must! So much to do in the local area with bike ride along the Monsail trail into Bakewell and stunning walks from Edale, the start of the Penine Way."

"Very nice place to stay, fantastic views and reasonable walking from the door. Very well equipped kitchen and facilities in general. Beautifully presented throughout. The only thing to consider is to arrive in a reasonable sensible car as the drive to the house is steep and if there is any snow/ice it could be difficult to negotiate at least if you have a silly rear wheel drive German car like we have."
