Guests have had a delightful experience at The Loft, praising its homely feel, spacious rooms, and the added luxury of a hot tub and sauna. The farm setting offers beautiful countryside views, with friendly farm dogs and horses enhancing the rustic charm. The property's location in the Peak District makes it ideal for exploring the local area.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found The Loft clean and tidy, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few mentioned areas for improvement, such as kitchen cleanliness and hot tub maintenance, which slightly affected the overall impression.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views and peaceful countryside setting. It serves as a perfect base for exploring the Peak District, with guests appreciating the proximity to local walks and towns.

The Loft is generally considered comfortable, with large bedrooms and a homely atmosphere. Some guests mentioned issues with low beams and the layout, which could be problematic for those with mobility issues or when navigating at night.

Facilities like the hot tub, sauna, and billiard table are well-received, but some guests noted maintenance issues and a need for additional amenities such as mirrors and coat hooks. The presence of a dishwasher, not listed in the features, was a pleasant surprise.

While guests have mentioned thoughtful touches like Christmas decorations and the provision of essentials, there is no consistent reference to gifts or special attention that would warrant a score in this category.

About this property

A superb, stone-built, Grade II listed detached cottage, in open countryside in the hamlet of Millthorpe, 5 miles from Baslow. Converted from a stable block, most of the accommodation is set over the first floor, including the split-level living room with cruck beams, a cosy sitting area and a games area with a bar billiard table. The accommodation offers exposed stonework and original beams, plus private use of a hot tub and sauna. The lovely courtyard garden provides fantastic views, whilst within walking distance is an award-winning pub, serving real ales and fabulous food. Within reach of the many walks and attractions of the area, this is an ideal base to get away from it all and enjoy the magnificent Peak District.

On the edge of the Peak District National Park between Bakewell and Sheffield is the hamlet of Millthorpe with splendid views of the Cordwell Valley. The hamlet is set among rolling countryside and the neighbouring villages are made up of traditional old houses and buildings. The area has a number of hostelries and restaurants waiting to be discovered and Hathersage is close by with more in the way of amenities. In the summer there is an outdoor pool, the churchyard is said to be the burial place of Little John, and Charlotte Bronte is thought to have got her inspiration for Jane Eyre after she had visited friends in Hathersage, so despite its small size, Millthorpe has had quite an influence on its surrounding area. With both the Peak District and Sheffield so close, Millthorpe is an ideal base for a holiday.

Cold in afternoon. Twin bedroom with 3 outside walls was cold, draft, noisy. Inadequate lighting in bedrooms and living area for reading. Insufficient crockery, toilet rolls, towels and bedding for 6. Had very sore eyes and dry skin on first night in hot tub, but afterwards realised that this was due to very large chlorine tablet in the water. Chlorine gas in the enclosed room was hazardous: we opened the door and windows, and removed the tablet for the following nights. Good location, great walks nearby. Field for the dogs to go in. Bar billiards was fun.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful setting, the property has so much character and was perfect to escape society. However; just a short journey into the local towns, or sheffield, or various country walks. Dogs on the property were very friendly. Definitely would recommend.

Loved the whole feel of the barn effect with the beams. It had everything we needed. Had a nice time in sauna and hot tub. Would definatley stay again x
