"The Coal Miners Cottage is a fabulous self catering accommodation set on the edge of the town New Mills. It is exceptionally clean, comfortable and cosy. The views from the front of the cottage are stunning. The steep track leading to the property was managed with ease in my Nissan Qashqai with enough space to turn at the top. Inside, the cottage is very well equipped with a good kitchen and appliances. The bathroom has a large shower cubicle with good water pressure. There is also a bath and there were plenty of clean towels. The log burner was a lovely bonus and there was a good supply of wood. The beds are very comfortable too. The stairs are steep but we’re perfectly manageable. The town of New Mills is well serviced with a small supermarket, pubs and eateries. There is a lot of history to explore at the Mill and Millennium walkway. The Sett valley trail is accessible from the town also. A short car journey will get you to many other areas within The Peak District National Park.Overall I would highly recommend The Coal Miners Cottage and have thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the property."

"We stayed here earlier this year and liked it enough to come back. It is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage with lovely views. But beware arachnaphobes this time of year- we saw six different very large spiders in one hour!"

"Overall it was a lovely cottage. The only challenge was the extremely steep driveway and tight turning circle at the top. But actually that was part of the charm."

"This is a lovely cottage in an absolutely stunning location. Beautifully decorated and furnished and very well equipped. Was lovely to find a nice dog friendly cottage and have our boy with us. There is room to park a car at the top of the drive next to the cottage, although it takes a couple of turns to get back down again. I managed it in a Landrover! Ten minute walk into town and there’s lots of shops and places to eat. Lovely walk around the Millenium Way. Ideally placed for trips across Derbyshire, or even into Stockport or Manchester. The view is stunning though, you can see all the way across the valley to the hills beyond. You can even see The Cage of Lyme Park and that’s about three miles away!"

"This was an excellent base for a weekend visit to Manchester and the Peak District. The cottage was comfortable, well-equipped and warm (even though it was a very cold weekend), and there was plenty of hot water. We found parking outside the house a bit tricky in a people-mover, but didn't have any trouble finding a park on the road at the bottom of the driveway."

"My husband and I spent four nights at the cottage but it wasn’t long enough. The cottage was in a great location with amazing views from the windows. There was plenty to do in the area and with the station close by we were able to go into Manchester without the stress of driving and finding somewhere to park. We had some amazing walks Mam Tor and Lyme Park were our personal favourites. With so much more to see and do we will definitely return to the cottage. It’s a real home from home."

"A lovely warm and welcoming cottage. Had everything we needed. The only problems were that the main bed was very uncomfortable came away with a bad back and work was being done on the owners annex that woke us up in the morning (we were not told of this). Beautiful views and well equipped. Town itself had everything we needed and a must try is the Belle bakery delicious hot chocolatte and cake."

"The stairs and driveway were an issue. We had to wash the car windows every morning as the over hanging tree dropped sap everywhere. Getting luggage up or down the uncarpeted stairs was a great struggle as it was so steep. No sign of the new carpet promised. On the evening before we were due to leave a neighbour announced a removal van would be arriving at 9.00am. As the shared drive was so steep and turnaround so small we had to realistically be out by 8.30!"
