"Fantastic house. Lovely location close to town centre with great countryside walks also on doorstep. Lots of welcoming local pubs in the area very dog friendly."

"The cottage was easy to find and in a good location. We were disappointed to be greeted with a request for a £150 deposit on arrival at the pub, which is where we collected the keys. There was no explanation as to what this was for and when we found a nasty burn mark on the carpet in one of the bedrooms I felt the need to photograph it and call back into the pub to report it. Whilst I have stayed in properties on occasion that have asked for deposits they have always been fully explained and itineraries provided. This led to us feeling a little uneasy all week wondering if our money would be refunded back after we left. All there was indicating this deposit was required was a one liner in the description at the bottom of the notes and not clear how it would be imposed? The money has been refunded, but I would say for future reference this should be explained when booking the property and not on the day of arrival, so there are no surprises. Once settled into the cottage, whilst everything is nice and new we found the atmosphere a little impersonal and sterile probably because of its newness. Everything worked properly, although instructions for appliances were a little scattered about and I put them all together in the folder. There was also little information about things to do in the local area, but we had the internet so were able to look things up to see where to go and what was open. We did find that we ran out of cutlery regularly, particularly the tea spoons as there were only 5. There was also nothing to put any food in to heat things up in the microwave, so we ended up just using the crockery. This meant we put the dishwasher on more regularly and did think it would've been more of a problem if there'd been more of us as we were only 2. We enjoyed the view of the ducks and brook running along the front of the cottage from the bedroom window, but did struggle with the very large blind which bowed in the middle when lifted and we were worried it may break under the weight. It didn't, but something to look at to perhaps reinforce for the future? Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and the surrounding countryside was stunning with exceptional autumnal colours for the season. A great base to see Derbyshire at its best."

"Cottage was fabulous...Only fault is no hangers for coats and the living room light could be brighter. Shops are 5 minutes drive for Tesco, Heron etc. Park 2 minute's walk. Plenty of walking in the surrounding area."

"As you would expect from a new property everything was immaculate, clean and in good order and we loved it. However, having said that there were one or two niggles but not enough to detract from our stay. Cooking equipment is limited and the TV's did not broadcast the usual TV channels. Although there was new housing being constructed behind the property we were not disturbed by the noise but it did appear that the builders parked in at least one of the allocated parking spaces during the day. There was limited information relating to use of dustbins such as recycling and bin collection which would have been useful for the previous occupants as we did spent some time sorting the bins into their appropriate usage. The staff at the Queens Arms pub were very friendly and served some good real ales (bonus) which we made the most of. We have no problems recommending the property and would like to return."

"We stayed with our daughter, her husband and 2 granddaughters. We found the cottage comfortable and in a good location for cycling and walking, with a pub/restaurant within 5 minutes walk. Manor Park is also close and worth a visit if you have children in your party."

"It was lovely staying at the doctors Gate Cottage. It was quite spacious and totally recommended for families. Very co-operative staff at the Pub who manage the cottage."
    Vikki ‐ 17 Feb 2018
"A great family house within walking distance of the countryside, a huge park, a highly recommended pub/ Indian restaurant and the town of Glossop. The house was well equipped and spotlessly clean.A very welcome hamper added to the overall thoughtfulness."
    Sarah ‐ 4 Jan 2018
"Beautifully presented brand new house, clean and spacious. Really nice kitchen with all mod cons and equipment. Comfy lounge, tv with netflix. Located in old village, very quiet but friendly, 3 pubs within 5 min walk and local park. Own parking. Really enjoyed our stay at Xmas ( a base for visiting family in Marple on outskirts of Manchester) . Would imagine this would be an ideal base to explore Peak District and would love to return to do so."
