It is in a great location in the centre of town, meaning it is only a few minutes from all the amenities and many pubs. It also makes a great starting point for some wonderful scenic walks. Parking is at a premium in Castleton at busy times of the year, so being able to park two smallish cars (with difficulty and care) is a godsend. The accommodation was clean and generally well-equipped, though there are low doorways, so mind your head! The rule about not being allowed to take other guests back seems Draconian. We were there for New Year when the weather was bad and some friends were staying in another location – we were unable to bring them back for a coffee or a game. If we had known about this rule, we would not have chosen the property. The choice of a very small bath, rather than a shower, in the master bedroom en-suite, seems bizarre and a tremendous waste of space. I am 6" 3" and could hardly get my legs covered with water. Getting out of the bath, would also be extremely difficult for many.

The scenery was amazing. We enjoyed our stay in this traditional cottage. A few repairs need to be done - a new door to the bathroom, maybe a bigger shower room and back door was stiff to open. We would definitely stay in the Cottage again it was great and the welcome basket was a nice treat.
