    Full of character and dating back to the 16th-century, this holiday property is the perfect escape for outdoor enthusiasts to explore the extensive Peak District National Park.
    Originally owned by the Duke of Devonshire, this Grade II listed barn conversion is one of the oldest buildings in Buxton, dating back to the 16th-century. Full of character with exposed beams and stone, the fabulous open plan living area can be found upstairs, leaving space for 3 comfortable bedrooms all benefiting from en-suite arrangements.
    Located on the site of the owners, family run bed and breakfast, the centre of Buxton is less than 1 mile from the property, which provides ample entertainment and a programme full of events. There is also a wide variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops, as well as the famous Opera House and Pavilion Gardens.
    Buxton and High Peak Golf Club is just a stone’s throw from the property, and being surrounded by the Peak District National Park means outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy endless amounts of walking and cycling. Both Rushup Moor and the Tissington Trail are close by, and the ever popular Bakewell and beautiful honeypot village of Castleton are around 20 minutes’ drive. The stunning Hope Valley, Goyt Valley and Roman Lakes are around 30 minutes away, as are the magnificent historic houses of Lyme Park, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. The wonderful market towns of Ashbourne and Matlock can be reached in around a 40-minute drive and for those thrill seekers Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers can be reached in around 50 minutes. Fishing available nearby. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    "Warm and welcoming, the hosts were on hand to answer questions and make recommendations on restaurants and activities. Lots of information inside the cottage, very well equipped and comfortable. We were met with a generous break fast pack - eggs, bacon, sausages, bread and milk, even local cake! For us three couples the best features were the ensuite bathrooms and delightful bedrooms. The kitchen has everything one could need to cater for a group, we appreciated the big table to gather round. Buxton is an elegant, charming town, the surrounding area stunning."

    "We were made very welcome by the new owners and the small food basket was most appreciated after a long drive. We have stayed here before, quite a few years ago, when it was owned by other people, but it was still as good (if not better) as we remembered. It was a good base for our holiday and having a bus stop right outside the entrance to the farm was great for getting into Buxton without having to worry about where to park the car. We would most definitely come back"

    "The holiday was a family get together and we chose Buxton as a central point to explore the wider Peak District. The cottage was a real pleasant surprise, being much bigger and quirkier than we had anticipated. Paul and his wife were perfect hosts, being there when we needed them and offering useful advice based on their extensive local knowledge. Their dogs, Archie and Charlie, and their cat, Oscar, added positively to the warm, friendly atmosphere."

    "A beautiful cottage. Renovated to a very good spec, but keeping all the individual things that make it stand out from other cottages we have stayed in. I marked it down on comfort and equipment as it was a bit cold and we ran out of hot water once. But the owner has informed me they will be updating the heating and water supply. It is a shame it has a small outside space, which is overlooked. As we would love to come back in the Summer, but like a private, bigger garden. The owners are lovely people who cannot do enough to make your holiday special."

    "We had a fantastic weekend at S73827. It was perfectly set up for our party of 3 couples and it was great with each bedroom having its own en suite. The lounge was very comfortable as well. The kitchen had everything you could need and Paul the owner had even provide a few essentials such as milk, bread and eggs. Paul was very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely look to stay again in the future."
