About this property

A Victorian townhouse situated in the popular spa town of Buxton, Derbyshire. Full of character, the house offers holiday accommodation for a group of friends or families wishing to explore the Peak District National Park and be within 3 minutes walking distance of the amenities of a town. The house has many original features including high ceilings, large bay windows, fire surrounds and terrazzo flooring.

The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms have large rain showers and one roll-top bath, in keeping with the heritage of the property.

The open plan ground floor sitting room has panelled walls, a period fire surround and a large bay window looking out onto the tree lined street.

The dining area can fit up to twelve people comfortably and the adjoining kitchen provides for your culinary needs.

The lower ground floor entrance opens into a spacious hall and utility area, leading to a boot area with underfloor heating, and there's also another handy shower room. Completing the lower ground floor is a media room complete with a 65" screen with full Sky sports and movies, Netflix and a games console, making a perfect place to enjoy a blockbuster. Buxton has an array of eateries, traditional pubs, bars and independent shops and the Opera House Theatre has a year-round programme of stars and shows. Nearby is the Pavilion gardens with children's' adventure playgrounds. Excellent walks can be enjoyed around Buxton and over the surrounding peaks and dales whilst taking in the stunning views over surrounding countryside. Easy cycle trails are ideal for visitors and families and there are more challenging cycle routes for those who wish to explore further. A short drive takes you to Go Ape and Poole's Cavern. A little further afield takes you to the historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Lyme Park and the lovely market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne and Matlock are all within easy reach. With all this from the doorstep of this holiday home you can enjoy this beautiful part of the country at anytime of the year.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House.

Thank you for everything you did. The house was perfect for our large family, and the location was near all the things to see and do in wonderful Buxton. We would all like to come again.

There was plenty of room for everyone to socialise in comfort - the downstairs TV room and boot room were very useful. The only downside was the size of the kitchen, but we were aware of that before our stay, so it didn't affect our holiday, we managed to cook for everyone most nights!

Very small kitchen given the overall size of house but was ok. Kids couldn’t get the PlayStation to work properly in basement so think wifi maybe not good enough down there but not sure. There are a lot of stairs to climb in the house so keeps you fit! Beds really comfy and bathrooms spacious and nicely done. House was in superb central location. Less than 5 mins walk to the shops etc
