About this property

Tideswell 3 miles. A lovely, spacious detached cottage with excellent views and extensive gardens in the rural village of Wardlow, close to Tideswell. This delightful cottage is perfectly placed for families or groups to enjoy the very best that the Peak District National Park has to offer. This attractive cottage has been sympathetically modernised with a tasteful combination of contemporary furniture and soft furnishings. Many of the original period features, such as beamed ceilings and quarry tile floors, have been preserved. The three bedrooms, two of which have en-suite showers, are spacious with lovely views, and can be offered as super king-size doubles or twin beds, making the cottage very adaptable to the particular needs of your family or group. Also the family bathroom is a great place for a luxurious soak or tired muscle therapy. The farmhouse-style kitchen with dining area is an ideal place to gather for a hearty meal, while your group debates which of the myriad of things to do next. There is an attractive sitting room with woodburning stove, as well as a snug with open fireplace, if you wish to be far from the madding crowd. The utility room and the two halls means there’s plenty of space to hang up coats and park muddy boots, and there’s even a bed and supply of toys for Fido! Outside, the extensive gardens, with open views of the surrounding countryside, afford maximum sun worship. If you are either a mountain or road cyclist, you will already know that this part of the world is a two-wheel heaven, so it’s good to know there is also a garage where your trusty steed can be stabled securely. A large choice of pubs, eateries and shops are available in the neighbouring pretty villages of Ashford-in-the-Water, Great Longstone and Tideswell. With fantastic walks, rides, and tourist attractions all within easy reach, this is a cottage which can offer a superb holiday at any time of year.

The village of Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Famous for its fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as "The Cathedral of the Peak", the village is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes. There is excellent walking with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale just outside the village.

This is our second time at this cottage and have booked a third for next year. It has everything you need for a great stay and very comfortable. We love our walks with the great scenery surrounding the cottage and visiting the old 3 stags head pub is a blast in the past. Thank you for a wonderful cottage to stay in.

Thank you for the welcome pack. Excellent amount of literature regarding the local area and great range of games and puzzles. The radiator in the kitchen needs to be looked at as we were unable to get it to work and that was the only heating in that room. Some additional draft excluding on the kitchen door would also be beneficial.

It was wonderfully clean, and the beds were so comfy, we couldn't fault this cottage.
