Bakewell 4.5 miles. A pretty Grade II listed stone-built cottage overlooking the village green and pond, in the charming village of Monyash, near the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire. Set in beautiful surroundings, Mere View, formerly a gamekeeper's cottage, is the perfect stay for a romantic holiday in the Peak District National Park. A path leads round to the side of the house where upon guests enter via the side door into the modern compact kitchen kitted out with all the essential equipment. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room which in turns leads to the lovely bright sitting room featuring a welcoming electric fire and comfortable sofas to relax on after a day exploring. The upstairs holds a spacious double bedroom with excellent elevated views of the village, and a stylish en-suite bathroom. To the outside of the cottage is a well-maintained front garden with a patio area with a bench where guests can admire the views with a morning coffee. The cottage is directly on the Limestone Way offering easy access to this well-known long distance footpath. The delightful town of Bakewell sits five miles away, offering shops and pubs as well as farmers' markets. There is also a leisure centre with a swimming pool. Mere View lies in the heart of the stunning Peak District, offering hard-to-beat views and walks through the country. The popular theme park Alton Towers is also within an easy drive if you fancy a more thrilling holiday. An impressive cottage in the stunning Peak District countryside, Mere View can be enjoyed throughout the year.

An attractive town retaining a rural atmosphere and offering a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as farmers’ markets. There is an old 17th Century market hall in the town centre and a modern leisure centre with swimming pool nearby. Bakewell is situated within the Peak District National Park and is well-placed for exploring this beautiful region. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach, and Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, is only a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall to mention just a few, while the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit.
