Originally part of the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Estate, Pilsbury Grange Cottage is a stunning Grade II listed semi-detached cottage dating back over 300 years. Finished to a very good standard throughout the property is both spacious and grand, with fabulous high ceilings, beautiful original features and a stunning split-level private and enclosed garden to the rear. Surrounded by magnificent countryside the setting is truly rural and within the heart of the Peak District National Park, and is accessed by a partially rough track.
The cottage can be found in the tiny hamlet of Pilsbury, which is located in the Dovedale region of the National Park between the villages of Hartington and Longnor. Hartington is just 2 miles away, and as a popular village is home to a selection of local amenities including cafes, pubs and gift shops and reportedly has some of the best walking in the country. Both the Manifold and Tissington Trails are also nearby and provide walking and cycling for all abilities.
Further afield the spa town of Buxton, famous for its opera house, can be reached in around 20 minutes as can the ever popular market town of Bakewell, home to the historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall. Matlock, Ashbourne and for those thrill seekers, UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers, can all be reached in around half an hour. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

"A beautiful property and location in the Derbyshire Peak District by the river Dove."
    Dave ‐ 9 Feb 2020
"Fantastic holiday - house was brilliant, location perfect for us - great walks from the doorstep.Speaking of steps - the rear entrance is down some quite steep steps which can be a bit slippery in ice / wet, so need to be careful.House was cold when we arrived, but soon warmed up - and log fire is probably the best one I have used.Beds really comfortable, highly recommended. We come to the area every year, and it was great to visit our favorite places & discover some new ones.In Ashbourne, "The Bike Barn" is a great place to hire a bike for the Tissington Trail - and John the owner is really helpful.Good time had by all"

"This cottage is not suitable for people with limited mobility - in fact it's very challenging and there were some issues with accessing the property via the front door. The layout is not easy upstairs (for the reasons given above), wifi was very poor, the outside areas very slippery."

"In the middle of nowhere peace and quiet what a lovely cottage with loads of walks right on your doorstep"
    Stephen ‐ 26 Aug 2019
"The property was remote, this was also the fault of our research however... access is from the rear and the path was overgrown and more importantly highly slippery. The slower steps were covered in moss and where they were clear they were seriously slippery. We were accosted by Ann the unfriendly neighbour who really doesn’t like the property owner. She told us how we needed to keep the gate shut to stop the dairy herd escaping?? It is a nice property in dire need of a deep clean and updating. Appliances good etc but to be honest the neighbour who is territorial about her yard and the general access to the cottage spoilt it from the outset. So headlines are, seriously remote, neighbour off side, property needs a damn good gardening session, overgrown an unkempt is not cottage, it’s just messy. Inside, good clean and a little love and will be okay. Oh and the drive grass needs cutting to give you half a clue you can access down it."

"Pilsbury Grange cottage is set in a pituresque location, near the village of Hartington. The cottage is lovely with a super garden . There is plenty of walking without getting in the car. It makes for a peaceful relaxing holiday."

"Gorgeous cottage in a fantastic location, somewhat in the middle of nowhere - bliss!"
    Carrie ‐ 27 Mar 2019
"Had a lovely stay at this gorgeous cottage for my birthday with my daughters and their boyfriends. Plenty of room for the six of us. It is very off the beaten track, be careful when turning out of the cottage as my daughter damaged her car on the red railings. It’s a slightly odd set up, the cottage used to be part of a big house with 11 bedrooms but this part was split from the main house and sold. The owners of the big house own all the land and were very rude when we saw them the first time. However it transpired that they thought we had left their gate open which we didn’t. When we were the leaving the lady came and chatted for ages. You aren’t allowed to go out the front door of the cottage as would need to cross their land, this makes the photos on the website a bit misleading. All said though, we had a fantastic time. Kitchen very well equipped, except no oven gloves. Comfy beds, nice showers. Close to some lovely walks and the scenery was breathtaking. We visited Bakewell, Matlock and Buxton, all within easy reach."

"Perfect for walking from the door. If you want to get away from it all it's perfect but it is a little remote."
    Sally ‐ 4 Jan 2019
"Such a beautiful cottage and stunning scenery. One if the best cottages we've stayed in."
    Helen ‐ 3 Jan 2019
"Great week, it had everything we needed."
    Christopher ‐ 13 Dec 2018
"A delightful cottage in part of a working farm. Well equipped, clean and with plenty of amenities.A good place to get away from it all."
    Barry ‐ 11 Dec 2018
"Excellent cottage we will definately go back."
    Shimin ‐ 13 Nov 2018
    "Amazing cottage. Well appointed."
    Rhiannon ‐ 21 Oct 2018
"One of the most comfortable, best equipped cottages we've stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few!). Particularly appreciated the extra thought for the dog. It's the sort of place I can imagine being happily snowed in. The only slight downside is the driveyway to the cottage - bone-shaking to say the least. And I would amend the advice about the steps in the garden - my mother is not infirm but struggled more than she expected to based on the description. Overall, though, Pilsbury Grange is definitely somewhere I would think of returning to."
