    About this property

An imposing Grade II listed cottage which was once part of the Chatsworth estate nestles on the valley side in the upper reaches of Dovedale.
Originally part of the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Estate, Pilsbury Grange Cottage is a stunning Grade II listed semi-detached cottage dating back over 300 years. Finished to a very good standard throughout the property is both spacious and grand, with fabulous high ceilings, beautiful original features and a stunning split-level private and enclosed garden to the rear. Surrounded by magnificent countryside the setting is truly rural and within the heart of the Peak District National Park, and is accessed by a partially rough track.

The cottage can be found in the tiny hamlet of Pilsbury, which is located in the Dovedale region of the National Park between the villages of Hartington and Longnor. Hartington is just 2 miles away, and as a popular village is home to a selection of local amenities including cafes, pubs and gift shops and reportedly has some of the best walking in the country. Both the Manifold and Tissington Trails are also nearby and provide walking and cycling for all abilities.

Further afield the spa town of Buxton, famous for its opera house, can be reached in around 20 minutes as can the ever popular market town of Bakewell, home to the historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall. Matlock, Ashbourne and for those thrill seekers, UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers, can all be reached in around half an hour. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

"A delightful cottage in part of a working farm. Well equipped, clean and with plenty of amenities.A good place to get away from it all."

"Excellent cottage we will definately go back."
    Shimin ‐ 13 Nov 2018
    "Amazing cottage. Well appointed."
    Rhiannon ‐ 21 Oct 2018
"One of the most comfortable, best equipped cottages we've stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few!). Particularly appreciated the extra thought for the dog. It's the sort of place I can imagine being happily snowed in. The only slight downside is the driveyway to the cottage - bone-shaking to say the least. And I would amend the advice about the steps in the garden - my mother is not infirm but struggled more than she expected to based on the description. Overall, though, Pilsbury Grange is definitely somewhere I would think of returning to."

"Very comfortable cottage - lovely décor and all 'gadgets' in excellent condition. Warm and welcoming. Very quiet location. Ideal for walking and exploring this are of the Peak District."
    ALAN ‐ 29 Sep 2018
"Nice and well equipped cottage, probably a bit small if fully occupied, but fine for two and a dog. The back garden is on multiple levels and our dog loved it, plus the thoughtful biscuits left by the owner. Access is predominantly via the back entrance, as the side entrance is shared with the farm across the yard, and whilst the front entrance can be used it a bit of an obstacle course as there are farm railings and sheepdogs in the way!Not really a cottage for people who are not mobile, given the multiple level back entrance and the multiple levels in the cottage itself. The cottage is located near to many walks more or less straight out of the door and there are many local pubs all of a good standard, particularly the Packhorse. The lane leading to the cottage is a bit potholely and the turn leading into the track leading to the cottage is a bit tricky. All in all we enjoyed our stay there."

"Lovely cottage in a stunning location, the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The area was beautiful and the village of Hartington a great place to visit."
    Tracy ‐ 1 Jul 2018
"Beautifully clean well equipped cottage. The extra touches, i.e. bottle of wine, tea, coffee cleaning products etc., were very much appreciated. The cottage was a little too remote for our needs. As we were travelling in a camper van the track was very difficult negotiate especially the tight hairpin at the top."
    Patricia ‐ 9 Jun 2018
"Everything about the cottage was excellent. The only problem was the very steep steps from the access road where the car parking area is to the back door - there is a slope to get to the front door, but you are not permitted to use it as access is gained by going through the neighbours farm yard. Having said that, the back garden is really lovely with a nice sitting area."
    JUDITH ‐ 25 May 2018
"Thoughrally enjoyed our stay. It is not for anyone with a mobility problem as too many garden stairs. The standard of equipment was excellent. The beds were comfy. Not sure we liked the access from the main road single track with many potholes, just hoped you didn’t meet another car."

"Fantastic place to stay if you want to get away from the hussle and bussle - nothing particularly close to walk to and enjoy a drink etc, but lovely place to stay."
    Christopher ‐ 28 Apr 2018
"This is a beautiful cottage,it's location is perfect for walking straight from the door.It was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped for self catering."
    Alison ‐ 27 Apr 2018
"The cottage was beautiful and very clean. Everything we needed to ensure we had a lovely restful weekend. Walks from the door were appreciated especially the one to The Pack Horse in Crowdecote. Location of cottage is very rural approached by a track. Beautiful cottage for those who appreciate the beauty of the Peak District."
    Robert ‐ 3 Apr 2018
    "Perfect! Thank you"
    Hazel ‐ 10 Feb 2018
"Beautiful cottage, well equipped and clean. Lovely setting in the valley. Great that it's dog-friendly. Only issue is the access, which was hazardous in rainy weather."
