"We had a fabulous weekend in the Manor house! It was everything we expected and more. Very clean and full of character with creaking floorboards and really old wooden doors. Plenty of tvs and bathrooms with nearly every bedroom having an en suite. Well equipped kitchen with loads of pots and cutlery so we could fill one of the dishwashers while the other was washing the dirty things. Two fridges so we had one full of food and the other with bottles and cans. Robes and flip flops provided for the hot tub and swimming pool which was very useful. We had use of the games room which the kids loved and had a small table tennis table, snooker/pool table and air hockey/football game. Kept them quiet for a couple of hours. We requested a child's cot and high chair and both were there ready for us. Staff were very helpful and even left a cake and wine for our anniversary celebration - a lovely touch. Would recommend the Manor House for anyone wanting that somewhere special and a little bit different."
"We spent a long weekend at the Manor for our Golden Wedding celebration and our party - 12 adults, 3 infants and 1 dog - were delighted with the space, facilities, pool, games room and hot tub. Plenty of room for everybody. The only thing to note is that from the description of bedrooms and bathrooms, it is assumed that they are all en suite but the downstairs bedroom has its shower room accessed from the kitchen. It didn’t bother us at all but I suppose it may be a deal breaker for some people. We loved the history of the Manor, it’s an old, quirky building and really enjoyed our time there. Good communication with housekeeping team."
"Unfortunately we had no boiler so no hot water. Large group so total nightmare. Owner told us we were lying when water started coming through the ceiling. Housekeeper didn’t really care so ruined our time. We were quite shocked at how unhelpful they were."
"I would recommend the Manor House with caution for anyone considering this for more than 10 adults. We arrived at the The Manor House and were amazed by is character, cleanliness and how well equipped it was and it’s beautiful surroundings. It felt the most private of the properties available on the site at Harthill Hall. However, we became disappointed as a group of six couples when the sleeping and bathroom arrangements didn’t quite meet with what we believed we had booked. Having spent a great deal of time looking for an appropriate property for a large group of adults to celebrate special birthdays, based on what we now, the descriptions provided of the bedrooms bathrooms and the capacity of the facilities, on both the company we booked through and the cottage owners websites they are misleading at best. The Manor House is described as suitable for 14 adults, there are only 5 double rooms with the 6 room being a triple room with 3 single beds (whilst the picture shows a double bed in this room). Two of the beds felt like camp beds at best and only really suitable for children. The six bathroom is also a shower room off the kitchen with a door that doesn’t remain closed making it difficult to use. This is reflected in our comfort and equipment rating.Overall we made the best of the weekend in lovely surroundings but it was tinged with disappointment and this property didn’t feel like it provided value for money for the reasons mentioned above."
"Remember to bring firewood for cold days as house very cold."
"The Manor House was an ancient venue and felt it, but in a nice way. All mod cons were present without spoiling the ambience. The children enjoyed the pool and the games room. With all the bare stone floors and steps, it`s probably not the best place for toddlers but this is understandable. It`s at the very heart of the Peak District with more than enough places to visit. Lolly, the person to contact in case of problems is very helpful"
"Lovely house lots of charm, creeky doors and low ceilings if that’s your thing you’ll love it!!!"
"A stunning house in a stunning location"
"Beautiful old house, although this comes with some downsides, squeaky floors where you can hear everything and one shower only had cold water. But it's worth it to stay in such a character filled house in a lovely countryside. If you want super modern convenience it's not for you but if you want historical and charming it's a great deal for a group. Hot tub, game room, pool house were extra bonuses."
"If you want ancient & quirky this is the place to stay, the house is huge with great atmosphere & easy to get lost in the kids loved it, great for hide & seek & Nerf gun fights ! We loved the pool & the hot tub, but it’s a shame it only fits 4. It was snowing when we were there but warm & cosy inside apart from the kitchen, which is huge ( the table seats 14 comfortably) so we lit fires in the kitchen & the lounge & were very cosy. If you go in winter take slippers, the stone flagged floors are freezing, a torch, the electricity went off 3 times when we were there, towels for the pool, the pieces of acrylic cloth provided were horrible to use & didn’t do the job & fire lighters. Wood isn’t provided but the farm at the end of the entrance on the left as you go out, sells it. We had a fantastic holiday there an experience to remember. Top tips – allocate the bedrooms & don’t let the kids choose as the room with the upstairs beds isn’t very adult friendly ! Order a food delivery from the Co-op it's free if you spend over £25. There's no welcome pack when you arrive apart from for the dogs, they got chews & poo bags. We had an Indian from the Shalimar but it wasn't very good - very oily There's lots of beautiful walks, I did my 1K steps every day ! Enjoy."
"The Manor House was a perfect place to spend a long weekend with family celebrating my 40th birthday. An absolutely amazing setting - if anything, the pictures don't do it justice. Loads of character and charm. Loads of space for 12 of us - 7 adults and 5 children. Hot tub and swimming pool both great. Garden and games room brilliant bonuses. And perfectly placed as a springboard to the peak district. We had a superb wkend and would highly recommend this venue."
"We all had a great time at the Manor House Kids loved the swimming pool We loved the hot tub Beautiful surroundings Over all fab time ??"
