Perhaps take a boat to the Warkworth Hermitage, a medieval cave or just simply sit on the banks of the River Coquet and watch the swans glide peacefully by? The coastal villages of Amble, Alnmouth and Craster are within easy reach, or take in Alnwick Castle and its impressive garden, just a 15 minute drive along unspoilt, scenic roads. Warkworth is a village dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is a range of galleries, antique shops, a village shop-cum-post office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole 'pay and play' golf course.
