About this property

Situated in the quiet picturesque village of High Newton-by-the-Sea, the house is only a few minutes' walk from the renowned, award-winning wedding venue of Newton Hall and just 100 metres from the well-known Joiner's Arms gastropub.

A fabulous cottage with access to three of Northumberland’s best beaches! Low Newton, Newton Links and Football Hole ('the secret beach').

Wow! What can we say… this beautiful seaside period property is simply stunning - awash with period features, Victorian fireplaces in the living and dining room, dark wooden floors, roll top, claw foot bath and Belfast sink… the style continues throughout the property and the attention to detail reflects the coastal location.

Leaholme Cottage has 4 bedrooms accommodating 8 guests - six adults and two children. Accommodation is warm and welcoming… the sitting room has a coal fire in an original marble fireplace, 3 pale beige and blue stripe sofas and a Smart TV with Freeview. The dining room has a large table with high back wicker chairs - plenty of room to comfortably seat 8 at dinner. The open fire takes the chill off the cooler evenings and there’s another large Smart TV. The modern country style kitchen is fabulous with all the usual appliances you’d expect of a 5* property - but it’s worth mentioning the Rangemaster cooker, oak breakfast bar, solid wood cabinetry and solid stone worktops… there’s also a compact hi-fi with a Bluetooth docking station. The first floor bedrooms have a soft blue and white decor, enhanced by the seascapes hanging on the walls, driftwood sculptures and pretty bedding.

Take a night or two off from cooking and try the nearby Joiners’ Arms gastropub and the Ship Inn at Low Newton - featured in The Times as one of the best coastal pubs in the country with excellent seafood and on site microbrewery! Leaholme Cottage is good base for exploring this beautiful area and there’s so much to see! Seahouses is the nearest town, just 6 miles away, a bustling seaside town with a working harbour and a fish smokery in the old quarter. Excellent shops, restaurants and the best fish and chips for miles! St Aiden's beach has views of impressive Bamburgh Castle dramatically clinging to a rocky outcrop (accessible at low tide along the causeway). Bamburgh itself is an historical village packed with old world charm and regularly features on film and TV. It’s also worth visiting the Farne Islands to observe the seabirds and the colony of Grey Seals. Just south of Seahouses is Beadnell Bay with its unique west facing harbour for sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving. Nearby Embleton has a small shop/post office, petrol station, golf club, and three pubs. Slightly farther to the south is the fishing village of Craster, enjoy a good lunch at the Jolly Fisherman pub and do the coastal walk to the imposing Dunstanburgh Castle. Good golfing (0.5 miles), fishing and horse riding available locally.
