Snaptrip says

Ridge Cottage in Northumberland receives high praise for its cleanliness, peaceful and remote location, and comfortable amenities. Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome baskets, the helpfulness of the owners, and the cottage's provision of a tranquil retreat. While some guests note the lack of Wi-Fi and mobile reception, many see this as an opportunity for a genuine break from daily life. The property is well-regarded for its warmth and the comprehensive facilities provided.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently mention the exceptional cleanliness of the cottage, highlighting its well-kept condition and the high standard of tidiness upon arrival.

The location is celebrated for its tranquillity and rural charm, though one review indicates it may not be suitable for all, such as those requiring wheelchair access. Its remoteness is a positive aspect for many seeking a peaceful getaway.

Comfort is frequently commended, with guests finding the cottage cosy, warm, and homely. The presence of a wet room and the spaciousness of the property contribute to the overall comfort experienced by visitors.

Facilities and maintenance are highly rated, with guests satisfied with the well-equipped kitchen, underfloor heating, and the provision of appliances and cleaning products. The lack of Wi-Fi and inconsistent mobile reception is noted, but not deemed significant enough to detract from the overall positive feedback.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is evident in the welcome baskets and additional touches like fresh flowers and essential items. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that such extras, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Part of a delightful barn conversion, this stone-built cottage adjoins the owners' home in the rural hamlet of Whitridge, close to the larger hamlet of Longwitton, the village of Scots Gap and just 10 miles from Morpeth. Comfortably furnished and well-appointed throughout, including wooden floors with toasty underfloor heating, this Longwitton cottage is in a perfect spot for exploring Northumberland. This cottage near Scots Gap has two comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is a walk-in wet room, making it ideal for the less sprightly. To the front of this Northumberland cottage there is a spacious patio area with furniture and views of the spectacular countryside, a perfect place to sit and plan the day's activities. A real bonus as the cottage is situated at the heart of one ofthe most beautiful parts of rural Northumberland with the surrounding area providing numerous riding, walking and cycling opportunities. The nearby market town of Morpeth is home to the River Wansbeck and provides lovely riverside walks, along with great shops, pubs and restaurants. A lovely Longwitton cottage and an ideal Northumberland destination at any time of year.

The former farming hamlet of Whitridge is situated close to Scots Gap village, offering both a village shop and fantastic country store. Only five miles away from the National Trust property of Wallington Hall - with its associated gift shops, tea rooms and farm shop selling local produce - this lovely little settlement is surrounded by views of the Rothley Craggs. Rothley Folly, another National Trust property is nearby and can be seen from the hamlet. Other historic attractions include the village of Meldon and its thirteenth century church. At only five miles away, this is great place to walk to along pretty country lanes. Morpeth is only ten miles away and is set along the course of the River Wansbeck, offering various pubs, restaurants and shops.

Everything you could need and a very generous hamper waiting for us on arrival. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Location good for exploring Northumberland. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Just perfect. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Welcome pack was very generous including treats for the dog and with fresh milk and cheese in the fridge and flowers on arrival. The owners are just next door and are very friendly and helpful.

We loved how rural the location was - no phone reception meant that we were able to properly switch off for the first time in a long time! Bed was really comfortable. Highly recommended.
