Belford is an ancient village, having been in existence since before medieval times. The centre of the village is the market square with its cross dating back around 300 years. Today it is a quiet village which gives visitors easy access to the Northumberland Coast, the Cheviot Hills and the Scottish Borders. Belford itself has a variety of smaller interesting shops as well as the usual shops and facilities available in a large village. During the month of August, a continental market takes place in the centre of the village and gives it a real carnival atmosphere. Overlooked by the magnificent 18th century Belford Hall and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village is Belford Golf Club, a 9-hole golf course which features a driving range, motorised cart hire and excellent bar facilities.

Fully equipped kitchen, nice bathrooms and really comfy beds Our closest neighbours were sheep and we were able to see bats over the lake at night and had visits from woodland animals. Enjoyed looking at stars in the dark sky. Close enough to Belford for shopping and to the coast at Bamburgh. The children enjoyed playing in the enclosed garden. A little disappointed that the photograph of a garden playhouse, which was one of the things that sold it to us, was out of date as that part of the garden no longer exists. Still a nice garden but suggest that photo be removed as it is misleading. I understand that ownership of the property has recently changed and the new person, Mark was very helpful.

The cottage was very clean, comfortable and very spacious and has a parking bay for 2 cars. The surroundings were lovely, accessible and peaceful and the garden has a seating area if you choose to sit out. Mark welcomed us and talked us through things about the property as well as recommending great places to eat and visit (There is also a folder with instructions and ideas for places to visit, which again was a nice touch.) During our visit he did pop by to make sure everything was okay with our stay and any problems just to call, but everything was perfect. The property had all the utensils, crockery, pots/pans etc we required when cooking. There were games provided which was a nice touch. Great location to access different places in Northumberland, Alnwick 20 + minutes away, Bamburgh and Seahouse 10+. We would definitely stay here again.
