This lovely, character, terraced cottage is situated next to the owners home on the edge of the Northumberland town of Haltwhistle, one mile from the impressive Hadrians Wall. From the doorstep you'll enjoy wonderful walking and cycling, with ruined Roman temples, forts and fortresses and the archaeological sites along Hadrian's Wall all waiting to be found nearby. Within driving distance is superb Alnwick Castle and its fascinating accompanying gardens, along with idyllic Holy Island and Northumberlands many miles of Heritage Coastline, all worthy of a day trip before returning to the fireside of this cosy Haltwhistle cottage. Known as the 'Centre of Britain', this small market town is a great place from which to explore both Northumberland and Cumbria. Haltwhistle boasts a good range of shops and pubs - one of which, The Black Bull, is a real ale pub serving good food! There is an excellent leisure centre with heated open air swimming pool and cycle hire in the town, with pony trekking nearby. One of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian's Wall is only a mile to the north. A fantastic base for a Nortumberland adventure!

Very spacious property with a useful off-street parking spot and a comfy dining room and lounge for warming up and recovering after a hike! Would definitely recommend.

The cottage is lovely and exactly as described (except WI-FI isnât listed and the cottage definitely has this which is a bonus) Nick the owner was in touch via email and gave us his contact details should we need anything, which we didnât. The cottage was spotlessly clean, spacious and had everything we needed and more for our stay. The nearest pub in the centre of the village is around a 5 minute walk away. Haltwistle is a lovely village with very friendly locals and we will definitely return. There are many things to visit locally and loads of great walks. We would definitely recommend this cottage and will hopefully return in the future. Thanks Nick
