About this property

This charming wooden shepherd’s hut is situated next door to the owner’s home, just 1 mile from Britain’s favourite tourist destination of Hadrian’s Wall.

Set on the edge of the town of Haltwhistle, this lovely setting is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic break away or friends or family members to enjoy a get together. The hut has four steps up to the stable door which can be left half open to let in the sunshine and fresh air. The interior has been well thought out to provide all you need for a countryside break with comfortable seating and a warming woodburner. There is also little kitchenette, dining table and folding chairs and a lovely shower room. What could be nicer after a long days sightseeing than lighting your own cute woodburner, pouring your favourite tipple and curling up in your own cosy Shepherd’s Hut. Outside there is a small decked area with chairs overlooking the shared garden where you can relax and breathe in the fresh countryside air. A short drive from your hut will take you to Hadrians Wall or why not pop along to Haltwhistle for a bite to eat and a pint. In an excellent location for heading East to the Heritage coast or West to the Lakes, this Shepherd’s Hut is the perfect destination for that long awaited rural break.

Note: This property is on the same site as refs 961437 and 961439, together they sleep 8.

The small market town of Haltwhistle is a vibrant place, offering a wide range of shops and other amenities. Home to The Black Bull – a proper, old fashioned pub, serving quality food and real ale – the village is a welcoming place to return to following a day of walking, pony trekking or cycling. With the Pennine Way and other great cycle routes and Bridleways running nearby, it's easy to enjoy this stunning scenery, which boasts dramatic castles, surging rivers and beautiful forests. Those interested in the country's history are sure to enjoy a visit to one of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian's Wall, only a mile north of the village, and with an ongoing dig on the site of Vindolanda, it's easy to get in touch with the nation's past. If history isn't your cup of tea, then there is a regular train and bus service in to Newcastle and Carlisle, meaning that you can leave your car behind and enjoy the nightlife the big cities have to offer.

Everything worked. It was well equipped, comfortable and snug. It's very like having a small cabin at sea.

Getting in touch with owners was difficult before arrival and when we cut holiday short. Would not book that location again.
