Just 6 miles from the causeway to Lindisfarne Holy Island beaches and 10 miles from the Cheviot foothills, this Bowsden cottage is ideally placed for walking and exploring both coast and country; the dramatic Heritage coastline Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bamburgh beaches and the lovely countryside of rural Northumberland. Enjoy a walk on of one of the most beautiful national, long-distance trails, St Cuthbert’s Way, which passes a few miles away at St. Cuthbert’s Cave, and ends on Holy Island. Other footpaths lead almost from this Bowsden cottage’s door around the surrounding countryside. With Berwick 15 minutes’ drive north and Alnwick 30 minutes’ drive south, Bowsden is an excellent location for visiting many historic castles, Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Alnwick, Alnwick Garden and spectacular Elizabethan Walls in Berwick. Head up into Scotland to enjoy a day in Edinburgh, easily reached on the train from your Bowsden cottage, or just stay closer to home and relax in this wonderful Northumberland countryside. With the beautiful, historic coastline only minutes away, and Holy Island, the Cheviots and Berwick-Upon-Tweed close by, this lovely rural village is a great place from which to explore the surrounding area.
