    About this property

S61016 is a charming, end-terraced holiday cottage that’s jam-packed with homely touches and a cosy ambience - ideal for exploring the Northumberland Heritage Coast.
Located in an idyllic steading known as Tughall Steads, S61016 is nestled at the end of a small terrace of three former farm cottages, enjoying beautiful and unbroken rural views across open farmland. This cottage is tastefully furnished and immaculately presented throughout. The accommodation is mainly on one level, and the large wood burner in the living/dining room ensures a cosy welcome all year round. Two fully enclosed gardens, one with timber swings, make this property a haven for families with a pet. Tughall Steads is situated equidistant between Newton-by-the-Sea and Beadnell, both around 2 miles away.

Beadnell is a popular holiday destination that offers local facilities such as family-friendly pubs and a broad range of activities for water sport enthusiasts, including sea kayaking, kite surfing and scuba diving, and there’s also a wide expanse of golden sandy beach that Beadnell is renowned for.

2 miles up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour. There are also several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs and shops, and as there’s also horse riding, fishing and golf on the links close by, Beadnell makes for a fantastic day out for all manner of holidaymakers.

A further 3 miles up the coast is the picturesque village of Bamburgh with its majestic fortress, making this a hotspot for history buffs. Holy Island, the site of Lindisfarne Castle and also cited as the birthplace of Christianity in the UK, can be seen from the beach, or just a few miles inland, there’s the bustling market town of Alnwick with its own dramatic castle, which was made famous by the film phenomenon Harry Potter. Holidaymakers can also visit Alnwick Garden, with its vast array of flora, the Grand Cascade waterfall and there’s even a restaurant within the largest treehouse in Europe!

"Lovely holiday cottage which we returned to for our second visit. Would definitely stay again."

"Lovely peaceful setting. Would have preferred if walkable to beach or shop, but quick drive to latter. Spacious and cosy sitting/dining area. Useful lobby for dog and boots etc. Two lovely enclosed gardens enjoyed by dog. Handy wash house with extra fridge and freezer."

"We had a fantastic week in Northumberland, helped by the fantastic weather. What a beautiful part of the country. The cottage was exactly as described. We wanted a rural setting to enjoy the countryside but also to be a short drive to the beach. It was perfect for us and our Springer Spaniel. It was great having 2 gardens - the one at the back of the property was lovely - much more private. They weren't particularly secure though - dog owners need to bear this in mind.I think with a bit more attention to detail, this property could be superb. It had one of the best showers I've ever used - it was extremely powerful. Perfect when you've been on the beach all day."

"Very comfortable and well equipped. Really a lovely cottage with everything you need for a week away. Great views of surrounding fields and cows. Perfect."

"Could not fault the cottage it was very nice. But the lane you have to travel down was very narrow and full of potholes. The grass at either side of the lane made it very difficult to walk down with my dog as when traffic came it was difficult to step off the lane in safety. Had to use the car to travel anywhere which was restrictive."

"We had a fabulous stay at S61016 and would definitely stay again. Beautiful location, gorgeous cottage very well equipped. The only small points that would make it perfect would be bigger bath towels, and there was a bit of dog hair on the floors, but they are very minor points. Decor was lovely, beds comfy and location great. Thank you for a super holiday"

"Great cottage for us and our dog. 2 secure gardens. Very peaceful. Lovely location near great beaches and pubs."
    Yvonne ‐ 24 May 2018
"Couldn't of wished for a more beautiful cottage only a short car ride to Beadnal which has a gorgeous beach which our 9 mnth puppy enjoyed. The cottage kitchen was more equipt than my own kitchen the garden is enclosed by a stone wall with amazing views over it. My only little fault is the fence next to the other cottage is a slat fence our dog isn't very tall and he could stand up on it using his paws it's also open slats so I think had someone of been staying next door and had a dog our dog likes to woof at other dogs to get them to come to him to play. However there is another garden across the little road where you park your car which is lovely. We really enjoyed our week made even more special by amazing weather."

"Fabulous break, lovely cosy cottage. Loads of things to do. There were board games and toys for the kids. WiFi was fine. The kitchen was well equipped except no frying pan only a griddle pan, I didn't like fried egg with ridges in it...😀. Overall this is an excellent base to explore the area an really feel relaxed doing it... Bring plenty of firewood for the log burner."
