Appletree cottage is a superb stone built cottage situated on Alndyke Farm near Alnwick in Northumberland. The ground floor hosts a large sitting room with inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove. Furnished in a traditional style including vintage leather sofas. Complete with WiFi and smart TV. The kitchen / dining area has seating for six and all the appliances you could need to rustle up a delicious home cooked meal. Also downstairs there is a small cloakroom with WC and wash basin. The first floor houses three large bedrooms - one king size, one double, and one twin, all with high quality furnishings. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC, basin and heated towel rail. The cottage has its own private enclosed garden complete with patio and seating area, where you can enjoy a beverage outside whilst viewing the wonderful countryside. Appletree and Baytree cottages share a secure children's play area. Note: Property can be booked with Refs. 1003233 and 1003278: together they can sleep 14 people.

One of its most famous historical sites being Alnwick Castle, which the Duke of Northumberland’s family lived in for over 700 years. Nicely decorated with a good sized living room big enough for 6 people to relax in for the evening. It would be possible to walk into Alnwick, but part of the walk would be along a busy road so we took the car. We enjoyed the walk across the field opposite the cottage and down to the river. The cottage is close to a main road, we were aware of a little traffic noise during the day but it was quiet at night. Our only difficulty was that the fridge door had no shelves so we had to buy milk in 1 pint containers as the larger ones leaked when laid down in the fridge.

The accommodation was very comfortable and very suitable for all our family. We would highly recommend the farm cottage.
