The comfortable sitting room has a dining area and a multi-fuel stove which creates a homely atmosphere on those cooler evenings. The French doors let the sunlight flood in and make this a lovely light and airy room where you can relax at any time of the day while enjoying the views. The kitchen has everything you will need and the bedrooms provide a comfortable retreat at the end of the day. The fabulous location is what makes this cottage truly special as the patio area overlooks the surrounding fields and you may catch glimpses of red squirrels, deer and birds of prey. The views will inspire you to pull on your walking boots and head out for the day to explore. For golfers there is a course just half a mile away and there are places of historic interest in every direction including Hadrian's Wall just to the north. This is a fantastic cottage for anybody looking for a peaceful retreat in the countryside.
The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle to the west, Hexham to the east or the Roman Wall just to the north. There are lots of walks and unspoilt villages in the surrounding North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline. Furthermore Allendale is a popular stay for cyclists carrying out the Coast to Coast.

Friendly and knowledgable owners next door if needed. Nice walks directly from the door onto local footpath network. The Co-op down in town has virtually everything you need. Also a very good Indian Restaurant. This is one of the few cottages we will return too. Its already booked for most of next year so will have to look at the few remaining dates left.
