About this property

A traditional, terraced, stone-built house situated close to the centre of Allendale in Northumbria. This attractive cottage is the perfect setting for a family holiday, with plenty to see and do in the area. Retaining much of its original character, the cottage is comfortably furnished and has exposed beams in the sitting room with a wonderful open fire to sit by and relax. Together with a well-equipped kitchen there is also a dining room with a further open fire, which creates a lovely homely feeling whilst enjoying family dinners. Upstairs are three lovely bedrooms, two of which have king-size beds, one with an en-suite shower, together with a twin bedroom. To complete the accommodation there is a family bathroom and a ground floor shower room. Outside there is a raised enclosed garden where you can unwind and enjoy a refreshing drink whilst planning your days out. In Allendale there are local shops, restaurants and pubs and the surrounding area is perfect for walking, cycling and birdwatching. Further afield, discover the history of this former lead-mining area at Allenheads Heritage Centre or visit the bustling town of Hexham with its 7th century abbey and colourful weekly market. Take a trip further afield and visit Newcastle, the Metro Centre, Bowes Museum, Beamish Open Air Museum, Durham City, with its magnificent cathedral, Hadrian’s Wall and Northumberland National Park as well as the stunning Heritage Coast. A superb country retreat and an ideal base for enjoying the many delights in this lovely area of natural beauty.

The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle to the west, Hexham to the east or the Roman Wall just to the north. There are lots of walks and unspoilt villages in the area, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline.
