About this property

This is a well-appointed, end-terrace cottage just off the town square in Allendale, in South West Northumberland. This luxurious cottage provides the ideal base for a family or couples looking to explore this delightful area. The open plan ground floor is bright and spacious and boasts exposed stone walls, underfloor heating, a woodburner and sumptuous sofas ensuring your stay is a relaxing one. The kitchen area has been well thought out with a dual fuel range cooker and plenty of space for the head chef and his assistants to create a culinary masterpiece. The kitchen also leads through a porch onto the patio and garden beyond. Stairs from the living area lead to two sunny bedrooms, both have en-suite facilities and a handy day bed for extra guests. The rear bedroom has a staircase leading down to the rear garden below. To the outside of the cottage there is a patio area and a large enclosed garden with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. A few steps from your cottage will take you to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Allendale, ideal for those who prefer to let someone else do the cooking. The area surrounding your cottage is perfect for walking on the moorland, birdwatching, cycling, touring, or just relaxing in the garden and enjoying the surrounding views. This wonderful cottage is well-positioned for trips to the Killhope Mine, the High and Low Force Waterfalls, historic Hexham, Hadrian's Wall and Durham city, with its magnificent cathedral. Take a trip further afield and visit Newcastle and the Metrocentre, Bowes Museum and the Beamish Open Air Museum. This cottage is perfectly positioned for a countryside break at any time of year.

The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle to the west, Hexham to the east or the Roman Wall just to the north. There are lots of walks and unspoilt villages in the area, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline.

I would say it has even improved since last time, sofas and chairs are much nicer than the old sofa and chair! We would definitely book again.
