About this property

Allendale 1 mile. This bright and airy barn conversion is set in peaceful surroundings on the owner's 15 acre smallholding one mile from the village of Allendale. Perfectly located for enjoying this wonderful area of Northumberland, with spectacular far-reaching views over open countryside, this beautiful cottage is an ideal base for families and friends wishing to explore the area. You will feel at home and relaxed the moment you step inside this cottage which has retained much of the original character with arched windows, slate flooring and a woodburning stove. The sleek open plan ground floor provides all that is required for a relaxing countryside break, the kitchen is compact but well equipped with a dining and sitting area where the family can all chat together whilst someone prepares supper. The toasty woodburner ensures a warm stay on those chillier evenings and the double doors give views over the garden and countryside beyond. With two bedrooms, one of which is a zip and link, and two bathrooms, this delightful cottage has everything you need for a very special holiday. The surrounding area is waiting to be explored with the High and Low Force Waterfalls, Killhope mines, Durham and Hadrian’s wall all within easy reach. A little further afield can take you to the Heritage Coastline or the Northern Lake District for a day’s outing. Or why not just chill out in the garden of your delightful cottage and simply listen to the sounds of nature at its best? Whatever time of the year you visit, you will be assured of a warm welcome and a peaceful, relaxing stay at this delightful cottage.

The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle to the west, Hexham to the east or the Roman Wall just to the north. There are lots of walks and unspoilt villages in the area, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline.
