Guests say

Guests generally appreciate the cottage's charm, location in a picturesque village with good pubs, and its suitability for walks and local exploration. While some guests noted areas needing maintenance and tidiness, the overall experience is seen as cosy and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches from the owners.

Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage to be comfortable and clean, while others noted issues with cutlery and clutter. The balance of opinions suggests that cleanliness is generally satisfactory, but there is room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its quiet, picturesque setting in a village with good pubs and local amenities. It is also appreciated for its proximity to Clitheroe and scenic walks, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Most guests found the cottage comfortable, with a good-sized bathroom, excellent shower, and comfy beds. The presence of a wood burner adds to the cosy atmosphere. However, some guests mentioned steep stairs and the need for a fire surround for child safety.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good bathroom facilities. Some guests encountered issues with the boiler and paintwork, suggesting that while the facilities meet needs, there is a need for some maintenance.

Guests mentioned thoughtful touches such as milk, biscuits, and sweets left by the owners, which contributed positively to their stay. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every visitor, they should be considered a pleasant bonus rather than an expectation.

About this property

A superb stone-built, 18th century terraced cottage tucked away on a quiet cobbled lane in the centre of the lovely village of Waddington, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland. Set out over three floors, the cottage has been furnished and styled to a very good standard, ideal for couples and small families wishing to get away from it all and enjoy this lovely corner of the Ribble Valley. This delightful cottage has character and charm throughout, featuring a bright and spacious ground floor kitchen/diner, a cosy sitting room with a woodburning stove, two lovely bedrooms and a modern shower room. With original ceiling beams, stone fireplace, sash windows and contemporary styling this is a holiday home of some merit. Accessed from the kitchen extension is a cobbled stone patio. Only a few minutes’ walk away are three outstanding and very much competing Gastro pubs, renowned throughout the area for their excellent service and fine dining. Waddington also has a babbling brook and beautiful Coronation Gardens. Close by is Clitheroe with its Norman Castle and a market that’s held three times a week, and superb walking and cycling can be enjoyed in the area. Within driving distance are many places of interest, including Skipton and the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, the seaside resorts of Blackpool and Southport and the cities of Manchester and Liverpool. A wonderful holiday home in a great location.

The pretty village of Waddington is situated in the hills and dales of the Ribble Valley, north-west of Clitheroe.

With three pubs serving food, two churches, a Post Office and a bowling green, Waddington is an excellent village base for a holiday in this area.

Cooking & bathroom facilities were spot on. Only used the master bedroom, but the single room looked nice. TV & WiFi easy to use & worked well. Parking was no problem: there was always a space in the parking area opposite Regent Street, regardless of the time of day. Blazing sunshine when we were there, so Freddie the Doodle had a ball walking & swimming along the River Ribble, around the Quarry and splashing in the stream in the village. We took the opportunity to try out the three local pubs - all very good, but Lower Buck had best prices, beer & atmosphere for us.

Cutlery wasn't the cleanest, lot of unnecessary stuff in the cupboards leaving it feeling cluttered. Not the easiest of places to get to

It’s old but the owners have sympathetically modernised it. Excellent double bedroom and single bedroom in the attic. Good sized bathroom with an excellent shower. Good sized living room with log burning fire. We furnished also. The kitchen dining room is in an extension/ conservatory. Again we’ll equipped with everything you would need. Location is quiet in a car free street. Local parking is available and I never had any trouble finding a space. Three excellent pubs within a few minutes walk and Clitheroe a ten minute drive . Local walks in abundance and the opportunity to go further afield if you need.
