Guests say

Guests have praised Elsa, a cottage in Cumbria, for its peaceful location, cleanliness, and well-equipped facilities. The spacious property offers beautiful grounds, wildlife sightings, and is considered a hidden gem by nature lovers. Despite a few minor issues, the overall experience is highly recommended for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests noting it was spotless as if newly built. One review mentioned dirty floors, but this seems an isolated incident given the overall positive feedback.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and peacefulness, with 200 acres of grounds to explore and close proximity to shops and places of interest. The scenic drive and wildlife add to the appeal.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests finding the property warm and the heating effective. However, one guest had difficulty with a bath design, suggesting some room for improvement in comfort for all guests.

Facilities are generally seen as excellent, with high-standard fittings and a well-equipped kitchen. Some issues with a TV signal, a sticky kitchen door lock, and a bath design were noted, slightly lowering the score.

While guests have expressed appreciation for the property and its offerings, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so this category cannot be scored.

Beautiful surroundings, quiet, peaceful, warm and comfortable. Everything about the property was perfect (although the oven took practice). My mother was recovering from a full hip replacement so the downstairs wc and en suite shower was ideal and the grounds of the hall were perfect for her to mobilise for exercise. Apart from toiletries, we didn't need to pack anything else. There is an ice compartment in the fridge and a wine chiller. We were sorry to leave and would like to stay again. Thank you xx

A warm property with effective heating we could control. Good secure garden for pets or children. Walking in the grounds of the main house each day was peaceful and relaxing and good connections by car to local shops and towns. Only negative was the kitchen door lock which was beyond sticky!

The cottage was very comfortable and clean and has a freezer department in the fridge, Balloo does not, but no washing machine, there are laundry facilities available in the main house but we did not need them this time. While we were there, there was a serious water leak in the area which meant we had a tiny trickle water for nearly 24 hours but the owner kept us constantly informed as to what was happening with messages forwarded from the water authority and they provided a tanker for the residents of the cottages and did everything they could to help. The only downside I think I should mention is the modern design bath downstairs, it's like sitting in a large pudding basin and is almost impossible to get out of safely if you are over 70, my husband had to help me and we laughed about it for ages afterwards but if you like a good soak to relax it's not ideal, so the two showers available upstairs are recommended. Without babbling on any more we absolutely love Wyreside cottages and can recommend them to all, the area is stunning and peaceful and the owners do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable without being intrusive.
