A delightfully cosy, 18th century, stone-built, semi-detached cottage, set on the owners' working smallholding, in the small hamlet of Boulby in the midst of open countryside, three miles from Staithes. Renovated to a high standard and offering comfortable accommodation, this inviting property provides a real home-from-home, with original features such as a cast iron range with a warming open fire, perfect for chilly evenings. With a well-equipped kitchen and a dining area, this cottage has everything you need to prepare tasty home-cooked meals after a busy day. The king-size double bedroom offers superb country views so you can really appreciate this rural location, while the bunk room is perfect for tucking your sleepy kids to bed after a fun day exploring. Outside, you can take advantage of sunny days and sit out on the patio with a morning cup of tea, or why not enjoy a BBQ with the family? An excellent base for walkers and cyclists, the area offers many footpaths as well as the coastal Cleveland Way nearby. The seaside spa town of Saltburn and the famous fishing port of Whitby are close by, as are the many delights of the North York Moors National Park.
Staithes is a peaceful fishing village, tucked away and well protected from the sea. It is a picturesque village with a small harbour draped with fishing nets. However, it has a tempestuous and fascinating past, involving great storms, tales of smugglers and pirates, of the Armada and of Captain Cook, of great fishing fleets and the enormous ironstone industry. The cottage in which Captain Cook lived when he was apprenticed in the town still stands and there is a heritage centre dedicated to his story.

The place was very clean and is well maintained and Christine was very helpful with anything we needed. Parking is off road in front of the door which was very handy. There are plenty of sandy beaches in the area within a short driving distance. We had drinks and ate at The Tiger which is only a 15 minute walk from the cottage straight across the field, or 5 minute drive, and this is also worth a visit. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Secure, garden for dog to exercise but I spent most time walking along the cliffs. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking which we did most nights apart from having some very good fish and chips from the Excelsior fish shop at the entrance to road leading to Staithes harbour, about 5 minutes away by car. Owners were very friendly and we appreciated the bottle of wine. We would return as we had a relaxing week

The cottage is well equipped and worked well for our small family. The cottage is a great location for lots of beautiful walks from the door and not too far away from a bigger supermarket! Thank you so much for taking the time also to let us meet the animals too.
