About this property

Located in Burnham Thorpe, where Admiral Nelson resided, Orchard Cottage is an authentic Norfolk brick and flint detached hideaway tucked away on the quiet edges of the village. Spacious and beautifully appointed, this property exudes modern pastoral charm. Situated a short walk from the village pub, mere three-minute drive from the popular village of Burnham Market, and a six-minute drive from the beach, Orchard Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring this area of Norfolk, and boasts space to park your boat!

Instantly welcoming, Orchard Cottage is a true Norfolk home-from-home. Offering an abundance of space in a relaxing setting, this hideaway has been traditionally furnished with a kick of artistic flare. On the ground floor, the large well-equipped kitchen with breakfast table is curated as the social hub of the house where time will be well spent making lasting holiday memories. A convenient adjoining utility room is perfect for drying coats, boots and damp dogs. The exquisite grand dual aspect sitting room boasts two seating areas, an extensive library of books, and the electric flame burner adds warmth and ambience. From here, french doors lead into the expansive well-kept garden. An additional snug is an ideal spot for anyone looking for a quiet place to read, study or work. For less mobile guests, or those who prefer a bit of space away from the main group, a single bedroom and cloakroom are located on the ground floor. Upstairs on the first floor, three further bedrooms are beautifully presented, comprising of a master king-size bedroom with en suite, a further king-size bedroom, and a twin bedroom. A good-sized family bathroom offers a separate bath and walk-in shower. Outside, the generous enclosed garden is perfect for enjoying warm sunny days, and for allowing children and dogs to play safely. In the autumn and winter months, great skeins of geese fly straight over the house - a magnificent spectacle to behold. Parking for three cars is available on the gravel driveway, or one car plus a boat.

Offering the perfect blend of rural and coastal living, Orchard Cottage is a truly special Norfolk hideaway at any time of year. The thoughtfully appointed accommodation will appeal to all manner of holidaymakers; one or two families, couples, or friends. Nestled on a quiet back lane, yet within easy reach of shopping, walking, dining out, birdwatching, cycling or sailing. Plus, the village pub The Lord Nelson is just a two minute stagger away! In addition, there is plenty of space on the driveway for guests to park their own boat, with nearby Burnham-Overy-Staithe being a haven for sailing. Lovely cottage in a quiet location. It is very well appointed, particularly the kitchen. We were there for Christmas and it had everything we needed. Burnham Thorpe is a lovely village and there is much to see and do in the area. We had a couple of visits to the pub - can highly recommend.

My family and I chose to stay at Orchard Cottage over the new year and for the first few days of 2024. We all loved our stay at Orchard Cottage, it was the perfect way to gently enter the new year! It was really homely with its traditional cottage feel, creaky floorboards and total blissful peace! The heating had been set perfectly so the cottage was warm and cosy, the kitchen was well stocked and the beds were super comfortable, we all slept so well. Great location to get to the North Norfolk coast and great pub, The Lord Nelson, within walking distance, would definitely recommend!
