About this property

Woodbine Cottage is a charming and cosy retreat in the sleepy hamlet of West Torrington, three miles from the small town of Wragby in Lincolnshire. The cottage would have an amazing tale to tell if it could speak as it dates back to the 16th century when the world was a completely different place to the one we know today. Constructed of local materials known as mud and stud and supported by beautiful beams taken from ships' timbers, the cottage has been beautifully restored weaving the delightful, traditional build with modern conveniences of the 21st century. This welcoming holiday home is over three floors and has three bedrooms, two on the first floor and one an attic room on the second floor. There’s a bathroom on the first floor, and on the ground are an open plan living area with a warming woodburning stove and a sun room that doubles as a utility. Walks and cycling are available in the immediate area and fishing lakes are nearby. The small town of Wragby is close by and has pubs, a fish and chip shop, a café and a restaurant, as well as a regular bus service. Within reach is Lincoln, with it’s two unmissable attractions – the magnificent Gothic cathedral and the castle with its Medieval wall walk, and shopping is particularly good here, especially in Upper Lincoln and at the historic Bailgate. Lincolnshire has it all - city, coast and countryside, with this delightful cottage an ideal base to visit the county.

West Torrington is a lovely hamlet situated at the base of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The small town of Wragby, three miles away is surrounded by countryside and is a short drive from the city of Lincoln. The town is the home of the ‘Rout Yard’ the remains of two 19th century manors, the 19th century Grade II listed church of All Saints, and a tall tower mill, built in 1831 by the millwright Ingledew. The town also has three pubs, a fish and chip shop, a café, and a restaurant.

So quiet and peaceful. Cottage was very equipped with everything you needed. Nice extras like welcome back which included milk, butter, jam, crisps etc. Also provided toiletries. Good communication with the owner as well.

Well located for visiting Lincoln & the coast. Ideal for two adults, with or without children, but it would be a bit cramped for four adults, especially upstairs and with only one bathroom/loo. Note to owners - we were very conscious of the parking, being on the lawn in wet weather. It would be more comfortable to park if there were a couple of tracks laid in the grass similar to the path.

Full of character, clean and well equipped, we couldn’t have asked for more. Situated in a very remote and quiet location was perfect for us. Wragby is just 3 miles away with a couple of pubs, Co-op and a chippy. Great base to explore the Wolds and beyond and only 25 mins from Lincoln.
