"! Wonderful facilities. The hot tub was a favourite with lots of us! All the rooms were lovely and comfortable. Especially Ribchester with the 2 balconies. We are already looking at returning next year!"
"The pace was outstanding very clean and in a lovely location. The hot tub was an extra bonus, all of the rooms were a great size."
" The only downside was that the hot tub wasn’t ready for the first day, which I know can be difficult with turn around times, but with such wIt’s short stay (Friday to Sunday) it was only able to be used once. "

" The kitchen is large and is a very social space. The only negative about the kitchen is it could do with a few more utensils but that is a very minor issue. All the bedrooms are lovely and the master bedroom is fantastic. The only complaint we had is the hot tub is not hot enough. It is set at 37 and obviously cools quickly in this weather. We did ask for it to be turned up to 40 and was told this would be done but unfortunately it didn't happen. We have been going away as a group to different cottages for 13 years and have never encountered this problem with a hot tub before. The sauna was a very welcome bonus and we all really enjoyed using it. Ribchester is a lovely village and we enjoyed a walk around and a visit to the museum. We all loved our stay and one of our group is going to book Somerwood with her husband and a few of their friends. "
" A beautiful house with brilliant facilities. The youngers ones in particular loved using the hot tub, sauna, snooker table and table tennis room. A very minor suggestion - a larger teapot please! "
" The house is fantastic, décor lovely, the beds are so comfortable and it did not matter that the weather was bad as there is so much to offer within the house, with the snooker, table tennis, cinema room, hot tub and I could go on. Will definitely be returning "
" My family of 14 stayed here for a week with lots to keep them all entertained!! The hot tub / sauna and the cinema room was much used absolutely brilliant! To unwind here at this lovely house was a blessing especially after a day out visiting Ribchester town and lots of other venues as mentioned in Somerwoods guide. Stydd Gardens beautiful!! Tennis courts and the grounds outside was awesome too. The accommodation was awesome with a gorgeous main bedroom with two balconies (ours) 7 other bedrooms 5 with en-suite plus a main family bathroom. A beautiful glass floor in the hall that shows the downstairs entertainment areas where the snooker room cinema room and table tennis were much used by everyone for their fun and enjoyment. The kitchen was perfect for the size of our party lots of seating area plenty of room to all sit down and eat together. The sitting room had lots of comfy sofas where we all met to discuss how our day went or just to chill and catch-up and watch TV. The lovely owners have gone to great lengths to ensure that their guests are well cared for.The letting people are close by if you have any problems with your stay and are very prompt when help is needed. All in all we had a fabulous holiday thank-you Somerwood all of us will remember this holiday for a long time ❤️ "
" Great facilities and lots of space for the 10 children who joined us to run around. They made full use of the tenn8s court, hot tub and large lawned area for football games. Everyone loved the cinema room. The only issue we had was poor wifi in some bedrooms but we wanted to encourage the kids to play instead of spending the week on their devices anyway so it wasn't much of an issue. I would absolutely recommend this house. "
" Each year my wife and I, our three daughters and their husbands and 5 grandchildren spend a week together. We need a big place and this is ideally suited for our annual event. The recrearional facilities ( in particular the hot tub and cinema) were enjoyed by all particularly the grand children. There are one or two things that could easily be put right e.g there is no mirror in the ground floor bedrooms bathroom and no razor point but this is nit picking. I would be happy to recommend this property to my family and friends. "
" It is finished to a very high standard and felt very luxurious. 13 of us spent a long weekend there for my husband’s 40th and we were not disappointed. Thanks for a great stay. "
" The facilities, the location, the rooms, cleanliness were all amazing. The contact too and from between the property was excellent, got back to me promptly with all my questions! Such a beautiful location, and the house itself was also beautiful! Excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend this place and one day hope to be back! "
" 15 of us stayed here for a long weekend.stunning, well equipped house.hot tub, snooker table and table tennis all got used loads aswell as a few games of tennis.couldnt fault it at all and we will definitely be back. "
" the house was just beyond what I could have asked for and the surrounding area was beautiful. Every single person in my group have said that they would use the house again, from start to finish the booking process was really great and straight forward. And the people at Ribble Valley holiday homes were also great when i needed further information they were very quick to reapond. Would 10000% reccomend somerwood house is to anyone and would defo use again to book the next weekend. "
"The Ribchester Arms is great (apart from my overdone lamb shank). It was a shame that we came home yesterday only to read in today's Guardian what a splendid gastropub is the Assheton Arms in Downham. But we did enjoy lunch in the Spread Eagle in Sawley. And we enjoyed Brockholes, the reedbed water park. Apart from all that we Londorners discover the beauty of the Ribble valley"
"Just returned from a long weekend here and have to say it was awesome. Plenty of space to accommodate our party of 13 adults and lots to keep us occupied. "There were a few problem with items not working in the house, but once I reported the problems they were quickly fixed for us. It was great that bedrooms had blackout blinds, especially for the children."

As the weather was good we even got in some games of tennis on the court and loved the cinema room for cosy evenings in. Huge kitchen- with great table that we could all sit around & which added to the celebration. Plenty to do further afield - we went on a canal trip near Blackburn. But a walk down the hill into the village took us to nice pubs, the Roman museum and bathhouse and the Stydd Gardens for some wine tasting. A few little niggles in that the dishwasher didn’t work along with only half the toaster but nothing major and certainly didn’t spoil our weekend. We’re already looking to book again next year!"

"Great facilities, the cinema, pool table and table tennis went down a treat. The kitchen was a brilliant meeting area - absolutely beautiful. However, there were a couple of things which stood out in such a lovely house. 1. Badly ripped chair in the lounge 2. Mirror propped up against the wall in the lounge. This is not safe if there are children staying in the house 3. Pagoda near the pond - a beautiful place to sit but we couldn't as it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a very long time 4. Curtains hanging off the rails in some of the rooms 5. The patio/bbq area - we had to clean and cut back the grasses on the seats to enable people to gather down there. 6. The hot tub was clean but it was clear that it hadn't been completely emptied and cleaned for a while, as there was grit on the bottom of the seats. I have a hot tub and although it is a pain to do a complete clean on them it is something which should be done on a regularly basis. This is not a complaint. I just want to highlight things a customer would see when paying a high price for a beautiful located house. We are already planning our next visit. Thanks again Lynn Grimes"

"The accommodation was fabulous, very spacious and the downstairs games rooms were enjoyed by all. Beautifully, furnished bedrooms and bathrooms and very spacious. We were delighted with our booking and my dad whose 70th were were celebrating was made extremely special. Thank you - we definitely would look to book something similar again."

"72 down to 2 years. Great place with room for all to enjoy without being under each other’s feet.. Plenty to keep all amused for the whole weekend without having to travel miles away from the house. Maybe one plus would be a toilet and shower down with the sauna and hot tub otherwise perfect!!"

"We had a wonderful week here as part of a large family group. There is masses of accommodation over the top 2 floors, a lovely big kitchen and dining area, massive lounge with big squishy sofas, and games rooms downstairs which are great for rainy days. There's also a hot tub and sauna outside, perfect for relaxing in the evening. The owners /letting people were really friendly too, and very helpful. Lovely place to visit, we wholeheartedly recommend!"
". there were one or two small niggles a plate rack by the sink would have been very useful but despite the arctic conditions outside the house was very warm and welcoming throughout.the snooker cinema and table tennis rooms were put to good use as were the hot tub and sauna."

"It’s spaciuos for 16, large bedrooms and living accommodation with excellent facilities, including the outdoor space and basement games room. We had the most amazing weekend and would definitely come again."
"Negatives-the ground floor bedroom was very cold, hot water was not always available in the showers, and the property could really do with another dishwasher for the size of the house, however that by no way takes away from how fantastic this house is. It’s spaciuos for 16, large bedrooms and living accommodation with excellent facilities, including the outdoor space and basement games room. We had the most amazing weekend and would definitely come again."
"Not too far from village but quite a walk and uphill on the way back without footpaths so not that close to village. Car really needed. Ribchester arms in village great. Shop ok for emergencies but don’t rely on it for anything out of ordinary. Turning to check in they are strict with check in times and there isn’t a lot nearby to fill in time. Lovely girl checked us in though. The place is vast. Almost too big. There is a lot that could be done with such a large space particularly in basement. Very well equipped though. Some of furnishings such as sofas in need of replacement worn torn not comfy. Some ok. Hot tub nice and table tennis fun. Didn’t use sauna or snooker but looked ok. Our grumbles were limited to mouldy showers heads that were blocked and the stalagtights of mound were very visible, insufficient if at times no hot water (they came twice to fix it) and no outside lighting to hot tub which was away from house down slippy icy slope. Also beware the amazing welcome hamper. We loved it until at the last minute we read small print. There are unrealistically high charges for failing to return bottles (£5) egg box (£1) etc. We nearly threw it all out and had to rescue it all. They take i5 from the high deposit to its more of a conditional gift of delicious things that could turn out to be massively expensive. Nice touch but the terms should be made clearer. All in all was ok but overly expensive in our view. We stay in lots of these places. For the money you would want hot water, clean showers and outside lighting. Maybe a better summer destination. Would book directly too and avoid who were quite objectionable over a few matters."
"Lovely large house in quiet peaceful surroundings great party house , set in a a pretty area of Lamcashire"
"We stayed here at the beginning of June for our twin sons 30th birthday. It was a mixed bag of quests of varying ages of friends and family. The house can sleep 16 people but the twin room off the kitchen has no facilities and would have to use the downstairs loo and shower upstairs in the family bathroom. This is a pity as the room is very large and would have room for an en- suite. That said all the bedrooms are lovely and fresh with good quality towels and two white dressing gowns per room which is a nice touch as they were all used for the hot tub and sauna. The kitchen is very large and enough room for everyone to sit and eat. The only downside is the fridge freezer , the freezer is very small and we could not get any of the frozen items we ordered into it. If this house is meant to house 16 people then a separate freezer is needed. The other issue is bins for rubbish the bins are very small and only one of each the main rubbish bin was already full from the previous people and only emptied every other week. Having had a big party we had a lot of food waste in four bin liners in the house which had to be the warmest week of the year. We managed to get these collected on the Wednesday but the bottles and cans of which we had many we're not collected so the next occupants would have the same problem. So,two bins of each colour would really make a difference. The downstairs cinema room was great with a full size snooker table and table tennis so if the weather is not so good there is something to do. The biggest hit was the hot tub and sauna everyone enjoyed those. The outside space is quiet large and my two year old grandson loved the cows in the the field at the back especially when they would come down to the fence near the kitchen it made his day. There is a fire pit near the hot tub with seating around and two picnic tables but it would have been nice just to have a few more comfortable chairs so you could seat nearer the house and be able to move in or out of the sun. The house has beautiful views and many good restaurants and pubs in the area we did a couple of good walks from the house which took in some of those views. Would we go again yes we would it does have a few niggles but this house is great for a large group of people and we all had a great time."
"Couple of minor points worth mentioning. The listing stated the cinema room was equipped for blu-ray but it wasn't, hence we couldn't watch any of the films we had taken. Also surprised that there were no additional black bin bags provided and only two tea-towels - not ideal for a house accommodating 16! We are used to booking holiday cottages in Cornwall through another company and there is always a minimum of 1 pt milk and a couple of tea bags provided on arrival. Discovering there were none, we had to make a quick dash down to the village to get some before our online shopping arrived a couple of hours later. On the plus side, the property manager was brilliant when we asked her to clean the hot tub mid week - she arrived within two hours. Also, the robes in every bedroom were very appreciated, particularly for trips to the hot tub and sauna. And the kids (both big and little!) absolutely loved the games area in the basement!"
"Great property, all the facilities were brilliant - the tennis court was used every day as was the hot tub. Rooms were good sized and ensuites/bathrooms again all just what you needed. There were 8 of us and the house was perfect - not tripping over each other - plenty of room. Coming home my rooms feel so small!!!! We had an amazing week and would re consider booking again - great location - we did the lakes one day then Blackpool another - close to the motorway so just pick a road and go. The village itself was lovely lots of pubs and cafes - everything you needed."
"This is a beautiful house in a great location and has been finished to a high standard. I do have a few small quibbles though: With so many people moving about in the house there was a lot of unintentional door slamming and the sound carried straight up the stair well meaning that anyone in bed was disturbed by the noise. Some sort of dampers on the doors would alleviate this. The gas bottle on the (rather small) barbecue ran out half way through a barbecue and there was no spare gas bottle. Although there was a good selection of kitchen utensils they were generally of a fairly cheap nature and there was not a single properly sharp knife. We were happy to smoke outdoors but a covered area (possibly with a heat lamp) would have been nice to save us from the rain and cold. It would have been nice to have had logs already there for the fire pit rather than having to go out searching for somewhere to buy them. The wi-fi definitely needs a booster, or the router needs moving to a more central location. These few things aside I would have no hesitation in recommending Somerwood to anyone and will almost certainly be making a return trip. Ian Russell (guest)"
"This was a brilliant house and all my guests enjoyed the facilities. Value for money was great and I would recommend this again."
"Amazing holiday had by all-brilliant house in a great location; so many facilities that we never really left the cottage! Would definitely recommend Somerwood, and will hopefully go back again soon!"
"Great venue and fantastic facilities."

"My family and I (party of 13) have just returned home after a week at this property. A really fantastic break. Situated in the Ribble Valley, this place has it all. Gorgeous setting; loads of space in and around the property; great features including tennis court, sauna, jacuzzi, bbq area with fire pit, full size snooker table, cinema room, table tennis table!!! We had five kids with us, aged 4 to 14 and they had a great time. You're in walkable distance from Ribchester village for pubs/shops and a maximum of 10 min drive from the beautiful Forest of Bowland but to be honest you could have a supermarket delivery and easily not move for a week!!! Would recommend and would love to return."

"A fantastic property. The whole family loved spending time in the house, especially the hot tub and sauna. The kids loved the cinema room and table tennis, whilst the snooker table went down a treat with the adults. We enjoyed a BBQ on the first day in the lovely BBQ area with plenty of seating and nice lighting."
"The house is absolutely beautiful, recently built to a very high standard. The majority of the bedrooms are en suite and there is a first rate basement with table tennis, snooker and cinema."
