About this property

An immaculately-presented, 19th century, semi-detached historic cottage that was formerly a granary before being converted for residential purposes in the early 1900s. Being situated in the pretty village of Priest Hutton, which has three counties at its fingertips, makes it a fantastic base for exploring this area. Set over three floors, on the ground floor there is a spacious, stylish and well-equipped kitchen with delightful countryside views. Stepping through to the sitting room you will be enthralled by the period features of beams, a fireplace and stone wall, all complemented by stunning interior soft furnishing and artwork. The bedrooms continue to exude style and quality and the second floor bedroom has an en-suite shower room, TV and DVD. This beautifully-furnished character cottage is ideal for family and friends wishing to spend time together in this beautiful area. At the front of the cottage there is a lovely private enclosed cottage garden with lawns and flower beds. Across the driveway at the side of the cottage is a second fully enclosed garden complete with garden furniture and barbecue, perfect for relaxing with a drink or al fresco meal after a day out exploring the local area. When the temperature drops hunker down in front of the cosy woodburner whilst planning what adventures to fill the next day with. Priest Hutton is in a fantastic position for visiting the Lune Valley, a favourite haunt of Turner, and in particular the village of Kirkby Lonsdale is a delightful market town with ancient square and independent shops, restaurants and pubs well worth visiting. Here is also the famous Devil’s Bridge with dramatic river rock bed and there are delightful views to the Yorkshire hills from the river walk. Also close to this cottage is the Lancaster canal where, in summer months, you can take a relaxing river taxi from Carnforth to Lancaster and back. Less than five minutes away is also Greenlands Farm Village which has a an artisan farm shop, garden centre and café and open farm and donkey ride for the younger members of your party with a barn play area. There are also fishing and riding nearby and glorious walks, especially around Farleton Knott, prolific for butterflies and dramatic limestone pavements. From here you will see a superb vista to Morecambe Bay, the coast and layers of lakeland fells. Close by Whittington village has a steeplechase in the spring which is an excellent day out, as is the Westmorland Show in September also close by in Crooklands. There are numerous walks and cycling on your doorstop but also the Lake District National Park is very accessible with Kendal just 13 miles away. Returning to this welcoming, superb cottage will end the day in a peaceful and relaxing environment whatever the time of year.

A small village set in beautiful countryside, Priest Hutton is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. The village comprises a scattering of delightful old cottages and farmsteads, and is close to Borwick Hall, on the Lancaster-to-Kendal Canal. Access to amenities and tourist areas is good - the historic City of Lancaster or the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool are all within easy reach. The rspb wildfowl reserve of Leighton Moss is only 5 miles away, while Morecambe Bay is also famous for birdwatching. Other locations worth a visit are the villages of Silverdale and Arnside (overlooking the beautiful Kent Estuary), Ingleton, Settle and Clapham.
