Character, romance, and some of the most beautiful views around! Gorgeously nestled by the hamlet of Troutbeck in the valley of the same name, Corner Cottage is simply that ideal country bolt-hole for any couple. The desirable location, unlimited fell access, lovely garden, stylish furnishings and welcoming wood-burner combine to make this a great choice for your Lakelovers escape.
What a sublime location for a peaceful getaway for just you two! The green and pretty valley of Troutbeck has its own magic to bring to your special holiday, and Corner Cottage is just that little bit of luxury you need to enjoy it to its full potential. With outstanding views of the hills from the windows and from the especially charming cottage garden, we know you will fall in love with this idyllic little Lakeland nest.
Contemporary style blends with traditional features, like the wood-burning stove in the excellently designed living area. We can think of few better days together than a stroll in the lush valley spread out below you, a romantic wander through the beautiful gardens at Holehird, a drink in the wonderful beer garden at the Mortal Man Inn close by, and then a hot chocolate by the fire in your little Lakeland hideaway!
With the beauties of the Ullswater just over the Kirkstone Pass, Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere just minutes away, and some of the finest walking in the region on your doorstep, including the steep ascent of Wansfell and the extraordinary views of the Lake Windermere valley from its summit, we know you will have a break to remember with us at Corner Cottage.
The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.

Everything you need inside & lots to look at outside. Bird feeders encouraging so many birds especially lovely. Mortal Man next door is lovely (& handy) or walk across the field ten mins to Queens head.

We simply could not have asked for a more picturesque setting for our holiday. The garden was beautiful (teaming with birds) and my wife was especially thrilled to see the ducks that were homed just outside the drive. ( Particularly when she was allowed to feed them. ) The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen and living room were ideal for us. Also the ' Welcome bottle of wine ' was much appreciated! ( As was the ' Welcome Jammy Dodgers ' ! ) Highly recommended!
