Take a 25 minute stroll down from here towards Bowness-on-Windermere, where you can enjoy a boat trip, and younger members of the family will be delighted with a visit to the World of Beatrix Potter. You may prefer to see the lake from an elevated position, which you can do so by walking up to Orrest Head, from where the views of the lake, surrounding fells and mountains are breathtaking. Ambleside is just four miles away, whilst Staveley with its local brewery and artisan cafes is nestled beneath glorious Kentmere. The popular twin towns of Bowness and Windermere offer a range of attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. Boat trips are available from Bowness to Ambleside and Lakeside, where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated. There are also a variety of watersports available, along with Langdale, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Sawrey, Grasmere, Coniston Water and Grizedale Forest Park.
