This is one cottage in a row of residences ending in a pub. The pub is walking distance, which is nice, but it doesn't serve food. The location is ideal: we walked from the train station and could easily reach Windermere and the adjacent town on foot. The family room and kitchen are on the first floor, the two bedrooms are upstairs, and a 2nd bathroom is alone in the basement. Positives: Cozy and clean. The kitchen was well-stocked. Lots of games, books, and Dvds for entertainment. There are numerous guide books and brochures as well. Negatives: The stairs to the upstairs and basement are very steep. Bathrooms both had showers, but the bathroom connected to the master bedroom was very cramped with the toilet practically in the shower. The downstairs setup was a true tub with shower head attachment. The water pressure was good, but it was difficult to hold the shower head with one hand and bathe with the other. My husband is tall and had to crouch. The curtain was also hung poorly so we kept stepping on it and nearly falling. A word about the towels: they warn you they're not provided, and it's true. It was difficult for me to make the long distance call with the time change, so I tried to arrange towels through email. My emails were not responded to. We got in on Sunday, so the office was closed. On Monday, I called the office and found out it cost 5 pounds per towel set (1 bath and 1 hand towel) plus a refundable 10 pound deposit to rent towels. There is a shop that sells nice towels for 8 pounds nearby, so we just bought our towels. (That shop was hard to find, so I recommend bringing your own if possible.) This is a service that should be provided without hassle to make the experience more enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend this cottage if you're an easygoing traveler looking for a modest place to crash for a few days.

The Cottage is very quaint - the sound of the brook outside adding to its charm The bedrooms are comfortable and nicely furnished - the en-suite shower is excellent The only negative is that the stairs to the lower ground floor are very steep and I would worry if small children were to use them - although if accompanied by an adult they should be fine We didn't use the log fire, but almost wished it had been cold enough to do so The cottage is very well placed for Windermere itself , with it's variety of shops - we would highly recommend the little bakery that bakes on the premises, lovely cakes and speciality breads - and is a 20 minute walk to Barrow-on-Windermere and the lake itself - a bit of a steep hill home but well worth it Transport links are very good, with local busses serving most of the nearby lakes and towns and Windermere station less than 20 minutes walk away I would highly recommend this cottage for a family with older/teenage children or a group of friends wanting a pleasant base for their holiday

We loved Bluebell brook. It is small but really cute and cosy with the comfiest best ever. The log fire is great as is the location.
