The door handle falling off was the worse thing whilst I was in the bathroom, not surprised considering the screws were found rusting on the shelf, if I had been alone in the property, I could have been stuck in there a while. Almost slipped and broke my in the neck in the garden on a step was loose and nearly sent me flying. No explanation on the bins and weremtonput the rubbish, they provide you with a tiny white and black bag, that gets used within the first three days and all the neighbours have different coloured bins for recycling etc. We tried reading the manual left in the cottage was just dumped and put together, not in order and have the pages have just been taken and dumped in the front. I did try reading it to see were to put recycling etc nothing. Not forgetting the coffee table wheel was broken which can't be helped but the wheel just left snapped off and not taken away, feel like the owners could presume we did it, but I took photos to prove it wasn't due to time stamp etc. I rang Sykes to inform them of all this said I would receive a call back nothing.

My family and I have over the years rented many holiday cottages and this is the very first time we have arrived and there has not even been a pint of milk in the fridge and some tea and coffee as a welcome, in fact in the shower room there wasn't even any toilet roll! We don't expect a red carpet, but a few essentials when you have paid over £1000 for the week would be really appreciated. The write up for the cottage does say access is not easy, however I think this underplays the fact it is actually dangerous at this time of year, there is no lighting or handrail and no attempt had been made to clear the steps of the fallen leaves from the autumn leaving them incredibly slippery in places. The description of the sleeping arrangements also leave a lot to be desired, there are not 2 king size bedrooms, although yes I agree the second bedroom does have a king size bed in, it cannot be described as king size, there is little more than six inches to squeeze down on the window side of the bed with 2 disused pipes sticking out of the floor to fall over in the middle of the night, and with the bed in place you cannot open the wardrobe door more than a third of the way making access almost impossible. Whilst I appreciate that when on holiday not everyone wants to cook to much we were in the cottage for Christmas and we found the kitchen to be poorly equipped to prepare dinner. There are only 3 pans, and a couple of oven trays, and whilst there are plenty of pint size glasses there was only 4 wine glasses and 4 (One of which was chipped on the rim) smaller glasses that could be used for a whiskey or a G&T. It is a nice house in a great location for exploring the lakes, but the over riding feeling you come away with is that the owner just wants to take the money and put no real effort into maintenance or or thought into how you would actually live in/use the house. A shame as with a bit of effort it could be great.

garden for our little dog location was about a 40 minute walk to lake windermere or a five minute drive if you didnt want to walk also Garage,/shop (spar) about 10 minutes walk with everything you needed omly thing I would say it that when you check in at 4 pm it was pitch black and no lighting up to property there was solar powered light but unfortunately don't work in the winter so would say lighting would be beneficial but by all means not a negative to the property would definitely stay again and recommend this to family and friends well worth a vist
