About this property

Ingle Burrow is a delightful picture-postcard cottage just a short stroll from the centre of Windermere at the heart of the Lake District.

Tastefully decorated in a blend of the contemporary and the traditional, this charming terraced cottage is dog friendly and is the perfect base for a family holiday in the Lake District whatever the time of year.

This Victorian cottage is built from the local stone and has accommodation across three floors. Everything is finished to the highest standard creating a warm and cosy feel to this traditional home-from-home cottage. The living room is bright and welcoming with squashy sofas around the open fire. There's also a dining area with a wood burning stove, ideal for those chilly evenings when you're not eating outside, and a fully equipped dining kitchen.

There are two first-floor bedrooms, both with an en-suite shower room, one master double bedroom with an elegant metal bedstead, TV and a also a single bedroom.

On the second floor there's a zip and link super king size bed which can be converted to twin beds if required, with a pine washstand and some delightful views out across the open countryside. Finally, there's the period-style family bathroom with a shower over the bathtub, pedestal sink and WC.

The secure paved garden is a glorious sun trap, making it the ideal place for outdoor dining or simply to relax after a busy day sightseeing or walking in the Lakes - your dogs will love it too! With all the amenities of Windermere on the doorstep, you can leave your cars in the two off road parking spaces provided.

Ingle Burrow is in one of the most privileged locations in the Lake District, just a few minutes from the lively and vibrant villages of Windermere and Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere. From quirky independent shops to traditional inns and pubs, the cobbled streets play host to everything from tapas bars to local craft ales and Cartmel lamb at the Mason's Arms. Children (and adults too!) will love Beatrix Potter World or exploring the islands of Swallows and Amazons country on a steamer cruise. The Lakes Aquarium features sharks and reptiles, and the Lakeland Motor Museum has a superb collection of vintage and classic cars. Don't miss a trip on the picturesque Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway or the mock-Gothic splendour of Wray Castle.

There are good transport links from Windermere to the North Lakes, or take a drive over the magnificent Kirkstone pass to Derwentwater, Keswick, Grasmere and Ullswater for an exploration of Wordsworth country. Everywhere you go there are world-class walks and cycling routes with outstanding views, and beautiful Morecambe Bay is within easy reach for a picnic on the beach.

With its first-class accommodation, Ingle Burrow is an ideal base for a relaxing family or friends holiday any time of year, whether you want to cruise the Lakes on a glorious summer's day or enjoy Christmas in Lakeland.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes.

Bus stop at the end of the road which meant we could travel to major places by public transport - no need for a car. All places we visited were dog friendly and there are two parks very close to the cottage for walks. The cottage provided a dog bowl and blankets. Only thing to improve - better lighting suitable for reading in living and bedrooms. Thanks for a great stay.

It’s a nice cottage with decent layout etc. We were disappointed to find some ares in need of a decent clean; the fridge wasn’t over clean, the same could be said for the cutlery drawers. Also, the window sill in the lounge was a bit dusty. The thing we found most disappointing was the covers on the settees; we can only think they had been put there in case dogs decided to jump up (ours don’t). The covers had obviously been used by dogs in the past as they were quite grubby and we had to remove them before sitting on the settees (which were quite uncomfortable anyway). Notwithstanding the above, we had an enjoyable stay in a lovely part of the country.

A cosy but larger than expected cottage.A beautifully decorated home with well stocked cupboards, comfy beds and fantastic bathrooms.A central location near shops and restaurants but a quiet retreat after a busy day. We enjoyed a circular ramble around nearby Grassmere with various lengths of walks. Go prepared with food and drinks. Plenty of restaurants and pubs to choose from and all meals were generous. The lake boat trip a must with several to choose from. This was a very relaxing break and we would love to return one day. Thank you
