just a stone’s throw from the centre of Windermere with its selection of  pubs, restaurants and great local shops.  Lake Windermere is  1.5 miles away where you can board a Lake

Cruiser and explore Englands longest Lake. 

Head up to Waterhead for Ambleside or go South to Lakeside where you can

board a steam train on the Lakeside and Havethwaite Railway or hang out with

the Otters at the Lakeside Aquarium.   

Windermere is a great base to explore the National Park, by car or take the 555

bus up to Ambleside, Grasmere or “over the raise” to the market town of

Keswick.   For the walkers, jump off at

Thirlmere to climb the mighty Hellvellyn, or for the less ambitious Rydal for

the lovely Loughrigg Terrace and Rydal Caves.

This home from home is a perfect spot if you want to stay close to base or explore what the Glorious Lake District.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside.
