Mog the forgetful cat
This cottage was nicely done up, well provided kitchen, great location nest Windermere but away from the main hustle and bustle. It's not an olde worlds charming cottage but it's light and clean. However, for our March break, the heating had obviously not been on for long, and it felt very chilly on arrival. Then the damp smell emerged from the slightly mouldy curtains and got stronger throughout our stay...

I stayed in this cottage with my retired parents and my 6 month old son, and it was absolutely fantastic. The cottage was spotlessly clean, a really good size, the kitchen was equipped with just about everything you can think of ( and my mum even takes her own measuring spoons). The views were sensational, and its peaceful location meant that the only sounds you heard in the morning were the cokeral and the cows. Perfect

We spent 5 nights at Greenrigg, and it was a good base for our Lake District holiday. It is close to Windermere for shops / food (although we tended to cook in the evenings), and access is easy. It is in a quiet location but not too far from the main road to Windermere. The cottage itself was well equipped, clean and comfortable. There was plenty of space for us with good-sized bedrooms, lounge and kitchen.. There were a few little niggles - the dial settings on the oven have been cleaned away, so using it involved guesswork, the kitchen smoke alarm is very sensitive (using the oven set it off), and there was a smell of fuel oil outside, possibly because the oil tank had just been filled. Those things stop us giving it 5 stars, but it is a very good cottage and we would recommend it.
