"The large central living space was cosy and just what we needed. We loved watching the birds feeding on the balcony, the sheep hanging around the garden and most of all borrowing the boats and heading out onto Coniston on a misty morning."

"There were 5 adults and 4 dogs on this trip. Lingmell was ideally suited to our needs. We found the house (and location) easy to find and exactly as advertised. It was warm, comfortable, fitted with all that we needed and the perfect location. The house is ideally situated. It is a beautiful place to visit whether you intend to do little or lots of exploring. We particularly loved the afternoons on the balcony with the binoculars watching the deer."

"The cottage was in fact a half hour drive from the location indicated, on a different Lake and on the southern edge of the Lake District. This is misleading and unacceptable. We only realised when we put the postcode into google maps, a week before our holiday. I contacted Cottages and was offered a full refund, but what use is that a week before the Easter holidays? Tina promised to ring back with a solution, but I haven't heard any more. I think we should be refunded the Cottages commission as a minimum. Having said all that, the house was excellent and we still had a lovely time."
    Mrs Anstey ‐ 1 Mar 2018
"The cottage was lovely; inside and out. The surroundings were very peaceful and picturesque. However, there were a couple of things that let our holiday down. Although the cottage is set for 2 families, which was ideal as that's what our party was. The downstairs kitchen was much less equipped than the upstairs. (For example, not frying pan or utensils downstairs!) Not great when you have to keep asking to borrow things, we were 2 separate families, cooking separate meals. On our first evening, I had to call the owner to tell him that the downstairs cooker wasn't working. There was no reply so we had to wait for the cooker upstairs to become available before we could have tea! This was sorted the next day, turned out to be something very simple to resolve. Not anyone's fault, but there was a dead sheep in the stream that runs just by the cottage. I know it's one of those things but would have been nice to have a number to call or something to alert someone, was quite upsetting for my daughter's and we had to bare in mind to keep the dogs away. There are also mice that come out of the upstairs kitchen at night time.... :/ Apart from that, we did have a lovely time, beds very comfy, showers and bath very nice"

"This was a lovely house to stay in. We went with my parents and having the two floors with separate kitchens and bathrooms was just perfect. The grounds were ideal for walking the dogs and the house had everything you could possible want in it. We had an incredible week and a truly relaxing holiday"

"Stayed at Lingmell for 4 nights from 27 Dec. The house is beautiful and everything is very high specification. Great decor. Fab kitchen and open plan living and dining room. It was quite warm for time of year, so did not actually use the open fire. Great bathroom and powerful shower upstairs and downstairs. Everything is provided and really is a home from home. Two good pubs/restaurants, the Farmers Arms and The Wilsons, both in easy driving distance and nice walks around the area including Grizedale forest and of course Coniston. This place is a little gem and our party of six and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend. The layout is perfect for six people without feeling on top of each other. Will definately be planning a further stay at Lingmell."
    - Vicky B, April 2014
"Had a fabulous time in this stunning house. It has everything that you need for your holiday, maps if you like walking, table and chairs if you like to sit and relax either on the balcony or downstairs on the patio as there are 2 sets the weather was lovely and even managed a barbecue. This house sleeps 7 people comfortably and you don't feel on top if each other as there is plenty of space. I travelled with my husband, 5 year old daughter, 2 friends and there 8 year old son. The children loved the outside space to play football and they even found a rope swing to play on. It is a stones throw from Coniston lake and we all managed a walk from the house into Coniston around the lake. I would definitely book this house again :-)"
    - MerseysideRelaxer, June 2014
"My wife, daughter & her husband and their 2 year old boy and myself stayed here 6th. to 13th. June. We all agreed that this cottage was fantastic. The layout was spot on everywhere was clean and tidy. There were numerous books and games supplied. All one needed was more or less there. The area outside would be safe for children to play. I could go on praising this cottage. The only one small detail I will mention is that the downstairs shower would benefit from a soap tray being fitted. Finally this place was ideal from which to then enjoy a brilliant holiday. Steve H."
    - Mrs Herd, December 2015
"We loved the large windows which framed the beautiful grounds so brilliantly. The bathrooms were very modern and tastefully decorated, which is very important to us. As were the lovely soft beds. We also thoroughly enjoyed the real fire in the evenings."
    - Joanna C, January 2016
"comfortable ,cosy , well equiped cottage with excellent layout for 2 families, over 2 floors . lots of books and games for children and adults. Good location to explore south lakes."
    - HappyTourists5, June 2016
"This is a very well equipped holiday home. 4 adults, 2 children and a poodle, plenty of room and space in which to relax. The grounds are fantastic. Only a 2-3 minute walk to the lake, where there is a jetty. We were blessed with very good weather, but this property would have been perfect if we had needed to stay in. A great place to go for walks. Highly recommended. We hope to return."
    - Mr Carter, September 2016
"Beautiful cottage in fabulous grounds and an excellent location. We have already rebooked"
    - Stothard, October 2016
"Wonderful, spacious house, with everything you could need, and more. Very comfortable. Perfect location. 5 minute walk to Lake Coniston where there is a steamer jetty from which you could have a trip around the lake. In the summer this will be idyllic. Only problem we had was the amount of sheep muck left around the steps, stairs and doors to the property by the free ranging sheep. In the wet conditions made it very difficult to prevent it being walked into the house. We kept our boots in the area under the balcony but that also seems to be where they shelter at night and leave copious amounts of poo, so be sure you tuck your boots well under the bench or else you may get a nasty surprise when you put them on !! Some gates on this area may be a useful addition."

"Spent my 60th birthday here with family of 6 adults, baby and 4 dogs. Wonderful spacious house in perfect location. Ideal for our needs. Everything provided and some. 5 minute walk down to the lake. Warm and cosy."

"Just back to Bristol following a great week in a lovely spacious property which was geared for our two cocker spaniels. Definitely look to stay here again on our next visit to the Lakes."

"We stayed here last week and it's such a fabulous cottage. It's so roomy and spacious, with lovely views from the upstairs living room window. I have never stayed in a holiday let with so much equipment, if you are looking for something in the kitchen, it will be there! Even the ground floor kitchen has a washer/dryer. It was warm and comfy with comfortable Egyptian cotton bedding and the shower room ( downstairs) was superb... I would describe this place as home from home! Two minutes walk to lake Coniston which was breathtaking and it was so nice when the sheep strolled in to the beautiful grounds every morning. Would definitely stay there again and have recommended it to friends and family."

Miss Rhiannon Taylor, Warrington, Greater Manchester
"A very well appointed holiday property, indeed with ample space for individual down-time if required. There is a large garden area for hounds and children to play in, away from the road so no need to worry about children/hounds straying onto it. Absolutely first class all round."
Mr Tim Searle, BRISTOL, South Glos
"Although this is attached to another property, you would never know. The balcony is a superb addition, we sat there for hours with coffee in morning and wine in evening. It is a brilliant quiet setting with easy access to the South and West Lakes and Fells. This has to be the best cottage I have stayed in. "
Mrs Julie Law, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire
"The extra accommodation adownstairs at Lingmell worked very well and gave two parties extra privacy. The setting was very nice and private and the balcony was a great asset."
    Mr Ray Collins, Epsom, Surrey
"We loved the accommodation and will definitely look to re-visit in the future. This was our first time staying in the Lake District and couldn't have wished for a better location or accommodation."
Mr Chris Carter, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
"The house is very nice with everything you could ever need. It is in a beautiful setting and is divided into two separate annexes so if you want to stay with family but have your own space it's ideal. The big window looking out over the garden and bird feeders was lovely, especially with the log fire burning. Our dogs loved the grounds and it was nice that we didn't have to worry about them too much as we were well away from the road. We have booked again to come back at a better time of year but it made a lovely winter break."
    Mrs Joanna Robinson, Ballindalloch, Moray
"The property was probably one of the best we have ever hired and we've hired quite a few! The stair gate was a nice touch."
    Miss Denise Engel, Bedford,
"Lingmell was absolutely stunning, the amenities were excellent and we didn't want to leave!! "
    Mr Barry Measor, Hartlepool, Durham
"Peaceful location, spacious and lots of light. Well appointed with an excellent kitchen and good bathrooms. Loved the open fire which we only lit once as the weather was incredible for the end of November. There were loads of unusual birds on the balcony feeders which kept one of our dogs occupied for hours as he watched through the windows. The residents who lived next door were also very friendly and helpful."
    Mr Paul Roberts, Southampton, Hampshire
"Fantastic property, we've stayed twice now. The overall experience is second to none."
Mr Andrew Gault, Fort William, Highland
"Lovely property in a great location with lovely views. The house is ideal with a separate downstairs living area - we had 2 lots of grandparents, mum & dad, a 10 year old & 4 dogs & it was perfect - lots of space to spread out. Made perfect by being able to use the owners kayak."
Mrs Lorraine Gilmore, Newton Aycliffe, Durham
"This is a lovely well equipped holiday home with everything you need. We really liked the use of the boats and gas BBQ. The lake is nice and close about a 5 minute walk. Would defiantly recommended this property. "
