This immaculate, ground floor apartment is set in Summer Hill House, a Grade II listed building, within quiet and tranquil surroundings, one mile from the village of Spark Bridge, four miles from the tip of Coniston Water and five miles from the colourful town of Ulverston. Set within five acres of lovely grounds, this fabulous apartment boasts superb accommodation for a couple wishing to explore the Lake District in style. Inside this quality apartment is a designer kitchen with breakfast bar, and a luxury bathroom with underfloor heating and a double-ended bath; perfect for a relaxing soak after a day exploring this inspiring area. In contrast the spacious sitting room boasts beautiful Georgian features and completing the accommodation is an outstanding master bedroom with superb four poster king-size double bed. The bedroom also features exposed stonework and beams and retains what was the original kitchen fireplace for the house. Outside this elegant holiday home are five acres of grounds to explore and nestled in a secluded corner is an exquisite private patio area that’s an ideal place for enjoying a relaxing drink or afternoon tea, whilst admiring the tranquil surroundings and local wildlife, which include squirrels and a host of birds. Why not walk over to Crake Valley or discover the eastern, quieter part of Coniston Water, with its host of small bays? Less than 10 minutes’ drive away is Lakeside, at the tip of Lake Windermere where you can leave the car behind and head up to Bowness or Ambleside on the lake steamer. Cartmel, famous for its ancient priory, race course, award-winning restaurants and famous sticky toffee pudding, is just 11 miles away. Cartmel also has some excellent pubs, and with a stream running through the quaint village, it really is a perfect place to spend an idyllic afternoon. Return at the end of the day to this luxury apartment to freshen up before heading out to enjoy one of the local pubs, including the Farmers Arms and Royal Oak at Spark Bridge. This superb country house apartment makes a splendid base for exploring this beautiful part of Cumbria and provides an excellent romantic getaway at any time of the year.

As a five star listing would have expected the property to provide tea, coffee, sugar and milk as standard and the quality and amount of towels provided could be improved. Despite this however would thoroughly recommend to friends and family.

An extremely comfortable bed with ample darkness once the lights are out. A big bath, if a bit tricky for the older person that I am. Disappointed with the shortage of toilet rolls, and a complete lack of dishwasher tablets or washing machine capsules. A welcome pack with tea, coffee, milk, bread and biscuits would have made the welcome more appealing.

The bed was so comfy that we did not want to go home . Very handy location away from the more crowded areas of the lakes
