About this property

A cosy single-storey, semi-detached cottage, attached to the owner's home, located in the lovely hamlet of Water Yeat, a 10-minute walk from the shores of Coniston Water in the beautiful Lake District National Park. Perfect as a romantic getaway, Corn Cottage offers guests comfortable accommodation in a wonderful location. Inside this lovely cottage is a sitting room with dining area, wooden floor, exposed beams and a warming woodburning stove, along with a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom and a double bedroom. Outside you can take in the surrounding countryside from the south-facing patio with its romantic garden 'love-seat' or dine alfresco as you discuss the day’s events, and on a clear night, the deep darkness gives way to a star-laden sky. With footpaths and bridleways to explore right from the doorstep, access to the fells is easy and Beacon Tarn and Coniston Water are within walking distance. In the nearby village of Coniston you will find plenty of places to eat and shop, as well as things to see and do. The National Trust Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water is a true taste of a by-gone era from where you can relax and enjoy the stunning surrounding scenery, plus historic Brantwood House, home of the Victorian artist and social thinker John Ruskin, is close by and here the beautiful gardens and ancient woodland are a real treasure. From Coniston the great outdoors awaits where you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, mountain climbing and gorge scrambling. If you prefer biking, Grizedale Forest has some excellent mountain bike routes, and can offer some excellent bike routes, and quiet rural roads.

Situated in a peaceful location, this superb cottage is an ideal romantic retreat.

The small hamlet of Water Yeat is in the Crake Valley, just a 5-minute walk from the shores of Allan Tarn and a 10 minute walk from the shores of Coniston Water in the beautiful Lake District National Park. To the northern end of the lake is the village of Coniston, and within reach are Hawkshead, Ambleside and Windermere.

We cannot fault it. Having an unlimited supply of logs in the winter months made it a real home-from-home. A kitchen that has everything we needed for our self-catering holiday. We want to come back again so we can use the beautiful summer house !

Owners were nice, they came to say hello on arrival and to ask if we needed anything. Log fire was lovely and made it very cosy. Logs were not rationed. We did not have any trouble with WiFi. We would definitely go again

The walks from the doorstep are plentiful and fabulous. There is parking for one vehicle on the property, with more at the roadside. The cottage was presentable, however, the toaster didn’t work and the owners were notified and happy to replace, but we used the grill in the oven. The dishwasher worked once and the wash cycle was poor. Again, the owners were notified. This would explain the dirty teacups and pans that on our arrival we had to wash by hand. That said, lots of hot water and the owners kindly provided plenty of logs at no extra cost. I am sure that the issues we had can be easily addressed by the owners.
