About this property

Broomriggs apartments form part of a stunning conversion of a quintessential English country estate house that dates back to the turn of the century.

The House, approached by a long sweeping driveway bordered by Rhododendrons is set in an elevated position overlooking Esthwaite Water. Each of the apartments has magnificent views of both the Lake and the much sought after surrounding mountain scenery incorporating The Langdales, Coniston and Wetherlam ranges.

Private lake frontage and rowing boats are available for visitors use as well as approximately 40 acres of gardens and woodlands. There is also a children’s play area with swings , climbing frame and outside table tennis.

Broomriggs 5 is a lovely 2 bedroomed ground floor apartment sleeping 4 which has benefited from a great deal of investment in 2011/12 by the new owners who have re-carpeted, upgraded the lighting, added solid oak contemporary furniture throughout and replaced the kitchen and bathroom - creating a very comfortable apartment in this fantastic location.

This ground floor property has a large open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area which has designed to make the most of the fantastic mountain views. There is a flatscreen T.V. with Sky Freeview and DVD and Ninentdo comfortable settee and armchairs. There is wifi internet access not only in the apartment but also available in the gardens. The newly fitted kitchen is well equipped with built in electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge and freezer.

There are two pretty bedrooms one very large king sized to the front and twin bedroom to the rear. The large, recently upgraded bathroom has bath with shower over, basin, wc and heated towel rail .

We can highly recommend a stay at Broomriggs. My husband, myself and our two boys, 2 & 5 had a lovely relaxing weekend here at the beginning of March. Our apartment was stunning with views over Esthwaite water. It was well heated, quiet & there was lots of room. The recently refurbished bathroom is huge and very luxurious. Alan (the warden) & family were very welcoming and the house & grounds are simply stunning with a lovely play park for the children. I could have spent all day looking through my binoculars at the lake. However we were here for The National Trust Children's book festival at Wray Castle, which is 12 minutes away by car. We cannot wait to come back! Only thing to note is towels are not provided, so don't forget them like I did! The Lakeland Hideaways office in nearby Hawkshead (2mins) rented us some, so all's well that ends well.

The owners of Broomriggs 5 have provided everything necessary for a relaxing and comfortable holiday in a quite exceptional and secure setting. Alan, the estate manager, maintains the beautiful grounds and is on hand to provide advice should it be needed. The location half way between Sawrey and Hawkshead means a range of shops and pubs are just a few minutes drive away. We used Booths supermarket in Windermere which has an excellent range of very good food and wine. For the record it is not possible at present to access Claife Heights directly from the back of Broomriggs which means trying to find a parking spot in Sawrey to walk up to Moss Eccles Tarn, etc.

Just back from a relaxing week at Broomriggs. An excellent base for exploring the local area, and lots to do nearby. The accommodation itself was clean and roomy, with on site facilities such as boating, putting, table tennis and children's play equipment. There is also an on site warden to deal with any problems, and delivery of milk and provisions can be arranged. The property has views over Esthwaite Water, which was beautiful, and has well-kept gardens. Several pubs and restaurants a 5 minute drive away in Hawkshead - The Sun Inn particularly worthy of a mention for its food.
