This is a charming, detached property which has been refurbished to a very high standard. Set in a quiet area of the village, yet only a short walk away for those wanting to wander around the flower-filled lanes and cobbled yards or enjoy a pint and a meal in one of the local pubs without using your car. On one level, with off road parking for 2 cars and lovely gardens - this house offers a very comfortable base with an excellent standard of finish, in a great location.
The front door leads into the hallway which has plenty of space coats and boots. This leads to the large comfortable lounge with pine floor, 2 large settees, flatscreen TV, DVD, video, CD player and ipod dock. The large woodburning stove is a wonderful focal point for this room - perfect for winter evenings!
Across the hallway is the pretty, light and airy twin room which has the flexibility of zip link beds (which can be joined if requested). There is a large bathroom with rolltop bath, shower cubicle, basin and wc. The master bedroom at the rear of the property has an ensuite shower room with wc and basin.
There is a modern, stylish kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is very well equipped with built in gas hob and electric oven, large fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The contemporary light-oak table and chairs are perfect for family meals and french doors lead out into the garden. There is a utility room with a washing machine and separate tumble dryer..the owners have really thought of everything to make guests' stay as comfortable as possible!
Outside there are well established gardens with small lawned areas, flower beds and shrubs and a patio with furniture - perfect for enjoying the view of Claife Heights. There is off road parking for 2 cars and a secure shed for storing bikes.

Lovely lovely cottage Cottage fantastic, in great condition, really well equipped and very homely. We loved the woodburner. We loved the views. We loved how close it was to pretty Hawkeshead.

We loved our stay at Curlew Cottage. With marvellous views over to Latterbarrow in one direction and the village of Hawkshead in the other, what's not to like? Very well equipped and with the bonus of a log burner in the lounge, our stay was very comfortable even on the coldest days. The cottage is dog friendly - our two Irish Setters loved it - and everything is on one level, so very convenient. The village, with any number of eateries is an easy 5 minute stroll away. The only thing to be aware of is that parking in front of the garage is a very tight squeeze and needs careful reversing skills! Definitely a place to return to.

We try to book the cottage each year to get away from the constant fireworks at home. It's nice and relaxing without our pet collie trying to climb the walls. Curlew benefits from a village location with easy access to the centre of the village, but wheelchair access is up a steep but short hill. Very reasonablly priced with all the usual amenities.
